If you come here on weekends the wait is no joke, but going on a weekday it was pretty relaxed so I could order without any hassle,,

Chibao's menu and what to order together

Looking at the menu board, they had everything from jjajangmyeon and jjamppong to tantanmen and sweet and sour pork, so I mulled it over for a while. I was craving something spicy and soup-based so I ordered one seafood-packed jjamppong, and to get a good mix of nutty noodles plus sweet and sour pork I also went with the tantanmen set (tantanmen + mini sweet and sour pork) haha.

There are quite a few tables next to Chibao, but if you come here during the lunch peak on weekends you literally can't even find a seat,,, haha. Guess you really do have to come to Starfield on a weekday ㅠ

After you order they give you a buzzer — you just sit down with it and go pick up the food when it goes off, haha.

I was a bit worried since it's a food court, but Starfield Anseong really is great for bringing a newborn or toddler. It's easy to park the stroller right next to your seat, and the tables are spacious,, best.

What is the seafood-packed jjamppong like?

The moment the buzzer went off and I brought the food back, the generous portion and the delicious smell got my mouth watering right away,, it was plated neatly and cleanly on the tray, so it passed the visual test with flying colors ✨

Since Chibao isn't just a regular Chinese restaurant but a Taiwanese-style one, it seemed like this tantanmen was really the star of the show hahaha.

I started with the seafood-packed jjamppong, and it was piled generously with squid, mussels and fresh vegetables, so the broth flavor was deep and refreshing 👍

A subtle smoky char spread through the spicy, punchy broth and cleared my system right out, without feeling heavy at all. The noodles didn't go soft either — they stayed bouncy and chewy, soaking up the broth perfectly, so I slurped it all down haha.

The tantanmen set: tantanmen and mini sweet and sour pork

And then the tantanmen set I'd been so looking forward to! 🍜 The tantanmen (noodles in peanut-based spicy broth) struck a fantastic balance between nutty peanut richness and its signature spiciness — so appealing.

The broth wasn't harsh or greasy at all — rich and velvety with a savory, nutty finish that made it impossible to put my chopsticks down, seriously addictive 👏 There was also a generous amount of meat topping, so the texture was top-notch too haha.

The mini sweet and sour pork that came with the set was also a genuine masterstroke 👍 Even at mini size it was the perfect amount for two to share, freshly fried so the outside was crispy and the inside was chewy and moist ✨ The meat was thick with zero off flavor and had a clean taste, and the sweet-and-tangy sauce matched it perfectly.

Is Chibao worth a weekday lunch? Final take

I walked in without high expectations since it's food court Chinese food, but the smoky seafood jjamppong, the rich tantanmen and the crispy chewy sweet and sour pork were all so on point that I cleaned my bowl completely and left with a nice full stomach 💖
