Busan Chinese bar for Peking duck in Jeonpo: Mirim Yangjang

In short

Mirim Yangjang is a Chinese bar in Jeonpo, Busanjin, Busan, serving Peking duck and a wide menu of Chinese dishes. We ordered half a Peking duck, mapo tofu with extra rice, and kkanpung shrimp—and added the wraps three times. Verdict: A memorable pick for dinner and drinks with a twist.

I found Mirim Yangjang (미림양장) Busan Main Branch while looking for somewhere in Jeonpo to have a meal and a drink :)

Visit to Mirim Yangjang in Jeonpo

Jeonpo has so many great places to eat that I always end up wondering where to go, but this place caught my eye because it felt a little different from a typical Chinese restaurant. With Peking duck as its main draw alongside a range of Chinese dishes, it seemed like a great fit for anyone looking for a good Jeonpo restaurant or an atmospheric bar.

An atmospheric Chinese spot in Jeonpo

Mirim Yangjang is at 37 Seojeon-ro 68beon-gil, Busanjin-gu, Busan, tucked into a Jeonpo alley, so it is easy enough to add to a route with nearby cafés or bars. The exterior has a slightly Hong Kong-like feel that makes you look twice even when you are just passing by!

Inside, it was cozier than I expected, with Chinese-inspired touches throughout. It felt a little hipper than a typical Chinese restaurant, haha.

Maybe because of that, it seemed just as good for meeting friends, chatting, and having a drink as it was for simply having a meal.

From Peking duck to a wide range of Chinese dishes

The menu is more varied than I expected, too. Mirim Yangjang's signature dish has to be the Peking duck!

Guide to the variety of Chinese dishes

The current menu has half and whole Peking ducks, plus a variety of Chinese dishes including guobaorou (sweet-and-sour fried pork), fried pork back ribs, black pepper fried pork, kkanpung shrimp (spicy garlic fried shrimp), fried eggplant, and yuringi (fried chicken with soy-citrus sauce).

Wrapping it up and eating it like this was seriously sooo good ㅠㅠ We ordered extra wraps three times ㅠㅠ haha

There are plenty of choices beyond the Peking duck, so if you visit in a group, it would be great to order a few things and share. Personally, I think places like this are the most fun when you order several dishes and try a little of each rather than sticking to just one, haha.

Order complete: half a Peking duck + mapo tofu + extra rice + kkanpung shrimp!

There was also a pretty good variety of drinks, so it worked well if you were visiting more for drinks than a meal. They have highballs, Chinese baijiu, and standard alcoholic drinks, making it easy to choose something that suits the food.

A good choice for a Jeonpo date or gathering

Jeonpo has so many pretty cafés, right? That makes a place with this kind of atmosphere surprisingly useful when you want to head to dinner after a café, or find somewhere for a drink after dinner.

Mirim Yangjang has a distinct atmosphere rather than the feel of an ordinary Chinese restaurant, so it was nice for photos and for chatting with friends. When you search for Jeonpo restaurants, you see lots of barbecue places, pasta restaurants, and cafés, but I thought this would be a good place to visit when you want something a little different! Being able to try a dish you do not eat often, like Peking duck, was a plus in its own way.

Jeonpo has so many places to go that it is fun finding somewhere new, and this visit stayed with me because I got to try Chinese dishes like Peking duck instead of my usual choices, haha. If you are looking for something beyond the usual in Jeonpo—a slightly different Chinese meal plus drinks—keep Mirim Yangjang Busan Main Branch in mind :)
