Nampo-dong gastropub in Busan for an egg soup dinner: Budan Nampo
In short
Budan Nampo Branch is a large gastropub that takes up the entire second floor of a shopping building on Gwangbok-ro in Jung-gu, Busan, a few minutes from Jagalchi Station. On a second visit, a couple who don't drink ordered only food — cheese jjusaewoo (cheese-topped baby octopus and shrimp), egg soup at 8,000 won and self-serve rice balls — and ate at a window seat, finding the octopus and shrimp lightly seasoned rather than salty. Budan Nampo Branch works just as well as a dinner spot in Nampo-dong as it does as a bar.

Where is Budan Nampo Branch? Near Jagalchi Station and Kkangtong Market

This is our second visit to this good-vibes Nampo-dong bar, me and my non-drinking boyfriend (reason to be revealed soon). It's closer to Jagalchi Station than Nampo Station, and it's right next to Bupyeong Kkangtong Market. 📌 Right above the 24-hour Miryang Sundae Pork Gukbap!

Inside Budan Nampo Branch: the second floor and its window seats
Budan Nampo Branch takes up the whole second floor of the building, so the place itself is huge and spacious! Even on a weekday visit, the window seats were nearly full, and it can get a little loud when it's busy..! Still, sitting side by side with my boyfriend, it was nice for chatting away ☺️🩷

Snagged the last window seat..! I feel like this place would have even better vibes on a rainy day ☔️🤍

What we ordered at Budan: cheese jjusaewoo, egg soup, self-serve rice balls
Ɛ order 3 — cheese jjusaewoo, egg soup, self-serve rice balls. Sorry that we always come to a bar and just load up on the food-only side dishes..😂 But the cheese jjusaewoo here is genuinely so good.. beats most jjukkumi (octopus) spots I've tried. The menu is also super varied, so it's good for having a drink or, like us, just coming to eat haha.

The complimentary snack: white bread with fresh cream
The complimentary side that comes out is white bread & fresh cream 🍞🤍 My boyfriend doesn't eat it so I ate it all myself, which honestly worked out great. Already decided this is going to be tomorrow's snack for my hagwon (academy) kids.

Self-serve rice balls, ordered without mayonnaise
Ɛ self-serve rice balls 3 — yes.. we did technically make rice balls.. but honestly we got impatient once the cheese jjusaewoo came out, so we just ate it straight with a spoon. FYI we ordered it without mayo. Keeping it guilt-free while dieting,,, but it was so good even without the mayo 👍🏻 and the portion is huge too!
Cheese jjusaewoo: shrimp wrapped in pork belly with baby octopus
Ɛ cheese jjusaewoo 3 — I mean, look at this visual,, this is the reason we come here even though we don't drink. Whenever we're craving jjukkumi-saewoo (octopus and shrimp), this is the only place we go..

Look how plump the shrimp are.. the portion is really generous, and if you look closely, every single shrimp is wrapped in thin pork belly. Truly a chef who knows flavor.

And this!!!! Look at the amount of cheese!!!! It just keeps going no matter how much you eat, and it's not fake cheese — it's the real, nutty-flavored stuff. My boyfriend doesn't even eat cheese so it's all mine 🧀🧀🧀🧀

The octopus is also super plump and goes really well with the rice balls. And here's why we love Budan's jjusaewoo —
It's a bar, but the seasoning is never overpowering
No excessive sweet-salty-spicy overload, love it 👍🏻

Cheese, shrimp, octopus 🧀🦐🐙 — I crave this combo regularly. The octopus looks spicy but it's a spice level I, a total wimp with spicy food, can still enjoy! A lot of bar food is both bad and outrageously expensive, but this is genuinely great value. Honestly better than most restaurants 🤦🏻♀️

And the sauce-soaked rice cakes are also a hidden gem. Tastes a bit like the tteokkochi (skewered rice cake) I ate as a kid! Wrap it in the cheese and there's no one who wouldn't like it.

Egg soup for 8,000 won: a big portion that isn't salty
Ɛ egg soup 3 — the egg soup is also one of the dishes we always order. It's cheap at ₩8,000, but they put so many eggs in it that the portion is genuinely huge! Great value 👍🏻💯 It goes really well with the rice balls and jjusaewoo, and it's not salty, which I love! You can even sip this while drinking to help with the hangover as you go.
Is Budan Nampo Branch worth it without drinking?

If you're looking for a Busan Nampo-dong favorite or a good-vibes Nampo-dong bar, give Budan Nampo Branch a try 🤍 We'll probably be back again for more jjusaewoo haha.
