I really love the small happiness that comes from freshly baked, crisp-sweet desserts paired with a cup of deep, flavorful coffee. 😋 I especially wanted a nutty-sweet egg tart and a crisp-on-the-outside, chewy-on-the-inside cookie, so I went to Low & Sweet, a bakery known as a hotspot in Haeundae. 🍪 From the entrance, the warm sunlight pouring in and the faint scent of butter had me gasping in delight the whole time I was there. Today I'm sharing my full review of an early morning spent properly enjoying top-tier desserts and roasted coffee at Low & Sweet. ☀️

1. A sunlit, one-of-a-kind interior

As I got close to the shop, its distinctive, moody atmosphere pulled me in without even trying. 🙂

The photo at the entrance alone catches your eye — the sunlight streams in so beautifully, it's pure mood and pure pretty! The warm light hitting the doorway frame makes it a perfect photo spot even before you step inside. 📸

There's seating both indoors and outdoors, so you can pick a spot freely depending on your taste or the weather. It's perfect for enjoying coffee on the outdoor terrace in a cool breeze, and just as good for settling into a cozy inside seat and taking your time. ☕

Overall, the interior is simple yet unique and full of mood. The café is genuinely pretty! 🍪 The understated decor blends with the warmth of the wood tones to create a comfortable, hideout-like atmosphere. The owner and staff also welcomed me warmly, which made me feel even more at ease during my stay. 😊

2. The bakery case and house-roasted coffee beans

After taking a seat, I read through the freshly baked lineup on display and the drink menu.

Inside the display case: pain au chocolat, all kinds of cookies, financiers, madeleines — the variety and the flavors were both huge! 😋 They were baked so neatly that just looking at them, you could tell they'd be crisp outside and moist inside — it nearly gave me decision paralysis.

But Low & Sweet's biggest point of pride is that from 8 a.m. you can enjoy freshly baked goods every morning (egg tarts, financiers, canelés, pound cakes, cookies, pastries and more) alongside batch brew coffee made from their own in-house roasted Choti blend and Mulatu blend! ☀️

Proof that they roast their own beans, the bean lineup set up on one side of the shop radiated genuine dedication and expertise about coffee. From heavy, nutty flavors to bright aromas, you can enjoy a properly made batch brew tailored to your taste — enough to make coffee lovers' hearts flutter. For our sweet break, we ordered a dark chocolate chip cookie, an egg tart, and a lemon madeleine. ✨

3. How the desserts tasted

The desserts we ordered and the fragrant coffee arrived neatly arranged on a tray. The desserts, plated thick and generous, were visually enough to make your mouth water on sight! 🍪

I started with a big bite of the thick dark chocolate chip cookie. 😋 Chunky pieces of rich, deep dark chocolate were packed in, and with every bite a bittersweet-yet-sweet flavor burst out. The chewiness of the dough itself and the richness of the chocolate blended together in an oddly perfect way in my mouth — it was a dessert that melted all my stress away.

Next I tried their signature egg tart, freshly baked every morning. 💓 Inside the crisp pastry dough was a moist, soft egg custard cream, packed to the brim! The moment it hit my mouth, it seemed to melt, and the soft texture and nutty butter aroma spread out — I let out an involuntary sigh of delight. Paired with the deep, rich house-roasted coffee, it was a perfect match. 😙

Lastly, I tried the refreshingly bright lemon madeleine. ✨ The fluffy madeleine dough had a thin coat of tangy lemon glaze on the surface, and the moment I bit in, a pleasant sweet-tartness burst out. Behind the nutty richness of the butter came a clean lemon fragrance, so I could enjoy every last bite without ever getting tired of it. 👍

From the unique entrance photo spot bathed in pretty sunlight, to the indoor and outdoor tables, to the rich dark chocolate chip cookie, the crisp-yet-moist egg tart, and the bright lemon madeleine — nothing was lacking. Thanks to their early 8 a.m. opening time, it's also perfect for a relaxed early-morning tea break. 😋
