Tuna and sashimi course for two in Jungang-dong, Busan: Ppong Sashimi
In short
Ppong Sashimi is a sashimi and seafood course restaurant in Jungang-dong, Jung-gu, Busan. Two diners ordered the mixed sashimi course B at 60,000 won per person, which began with abalone porridge and seaweed soup and kept coming with yukhoe (beef tartare), sushi, blanched squid, abalone, soy-marinated shrimp, mixed sashimi and tuna, then fried and grilled dishes, a rice course to finish and plum tea. The private room at Ppong Sashimi is quiet enough for real conversation, and a simple sashimi outing turned out far more generous than expected.

Today I want to introduce a place where I had a proper sashimi course meal in Jungang-dong, Busan. The spot I visited is Ppong Sashimi! I usually love sashimi and seafood, so while looking for something good I ended up here — and not just sashimi but all kinds of seafood and even hot dishes came out one after another, so I left really full and satisfied. Let me walk you through it quickly 🫡
Where is Ppong Sashimi and what are its hours?
Ppong Sashimi is at 56 Chungjang-daero 5beon-gil, Jungang-dong 4-ga, Jung-gu, Busan, 1st floor. It's open Monday to Saturday 11:30–22:00, with a break from 14:30–17:00 and last order at 21:00; closed every Sunday. Both group visits and reservations are possible.
Ppong Sashimi sits in Jungang-dong, Jung-gu, Busan. It's also fairly close to Busan Station, so it's a good option if you're looking for somewhere to eat near there. A big signboard reading Ppong Sashimi is visible outside, so it wasn't hard to find even on a first visit.
What are the private rooms at Ppong Sashimi like?
Inside, Ppong Sashimi is set up with private rooms, so it looked like a great spot for gatherings, company dinners, family meals or dates where you want to eat quietly. Walking in, I noticed autographs from famous people on the wall... that pretty much confirms it's a real local favorite.

We were assigned a private room, and because we'd made a reservation beforehand, the table was already set for us when we arrived. It wasn't a loud atmosphere but a relaxed one, which was great for tasting each course dish one at a time. Since the course brought out such a wide variety of food, it was also easy to chat slowly while eating.
What's on the menu at Ppong Sashimi?

Ppong Sashimi has all kinds of sashimi and seafood dishes on offer — from lunch specials to mixed sashimi, mixed sashimi course, tuna sashimi course and omakase — so you can pick whatever suits your taste.
What comes with the 60,000-won mixed sashimi course B?
The mixed sashimi course is ₩60,000 per person.

The two of us ordered mixed sashimi course B for two. At first I thought ₩60,000 per person meant sashimi as the main event with a few side dishes — but the food kept coming with no end in sight. Get ready.
Starters and side dishes in the course 🍣

Okay, now let me show you the mixed sashimi course we actually ate!

It started with seaweed soup and abalone porridge to settle the stomach, and dishes were laid out one by one from there.

Even before the sashimi arrived, we got to enjoy sushi and various seafood — this was frozen yukhoe (raw beef tartare), and it was genuinely so good that our expectations for the sashimi were already sky-high.
This was some kind of boiled pork dish, but I honestly don't remember exactly what they called it... haha. Anyway, this was also delicious.

Sushi also came out matched to the number of diners, and it was just so good... I think that's the best thing about a course — you get to taste a wide variety of dishes in small portions.
Seafood plates and the mixed sashimi platter 🐚🐟

I loved that a 'sashimi course' didn't mean sashimi over and over — it was made up of seafood and all kinds of other dishes too.

From boiled squid to abalone to marinated shrimp, every bit of seafood was fresh. And the plating clearly showed real care, so it was a treat both to eat and to look at 🤩

And finally, the main mixed sashimi arrived! The fresh sashimi was laid out beautifully, wasn't it? The first bite really matters with sashimi, and the chewy texture and clean taste were both there — dipping it in soy sauce with a touch of wasabi rather than chojang (vinegared chili sauce) brought out the flavor even more. Chatting away as we picked at it piece by piece, the sashimi disappeared before we knew it 💭
The tuna course at Ppong Sashimi

And just when we thought the mixed sashimi was it, tuna showed up in the middle of the course too — another pleasant surprise. As fellow sashimi lovers, seeing tuna appear made us weirdly happy. With tuna added to the mixed sashimi, the whole spread felt even more generous 😳
Fried dishes, grilled plates and the warm rice course
Okay, pay attention!! This isn't the end. Starting with seafood, fried and grilled dishes came out one after another, and even though we were getting full, new food kept arriving and somehow we couldn't stop. I think that's the real advantage of a course meal — instead of eating one thing over and over, the food keeps changing from sashimi → seafood → cooked dishes → fried food → grilled food → soup, so you never get tired of it right up to the end.

And of course, the course ends with a proper meal! Our stomachs were already at capacity, but somehow when the food actually arrived, room appeared out of nowhere haha. Full stomach be damned, I wasn't leaving anything behind — we cleaned every last plate down to the finishing meal.
To finish, they brought out plum tea, which is good for digestion. Sweet, tangy and refreshing, it cleared the palate perfectly, giving the whole course a proper finishing touch.
Is Ppong Sashimi worth it? Final verdict
Ppong Sashimi turned out to be far more generous than I expected. Honestly, I went in thinking it was a sashimi course so I'd just enjoy good sashimi — but once I got there, the lineup kept going with all kinds of seafood, cooked dishes and a full meal on top, so it was genuinely fun to eat through.
Above all, every single dish was delicious, and this is a place I'll definitely recommend to people around me. Good stuff, ㅠㅠ. If you're in Jungang-dong or near Busan Station and want to enjoy sashimi plus a generous variety of course dishes, I really think it's worth a visit. We left that day completely stuffed and thoroughly satisfied. Thanks for the meal today too 🤤🤍
