The weather was so nice on Sunday that my wife and I debated where to go and ended up on a little outing to Haman. Since we'd come all the way out, we wanted a proper lunch, so while looking for somewhere to eat we found Jogane Sotbap. Getting sotbap (hot-pot rice) along with a bunch of side dishes seemed like a solid pick for a family meal.

Is parking easy at Jogane Sotbap in Haman?

Jogane Sotbap is on Seongmu-gil in Beopsu-myeon, Haman, and the first thing that caught my eye when we arrived was the parking lot — bigger than I expected. When you're moving around as a family by car, parking is always a bit of a worry, but Jogane Sotbap had plenty of space right in front, so we didn't have to circle around looking for a spot.

After parking, we went straight inside.

Inside Jogane Sotbap: spacious and clean

Jogane Sotbap already looked fairly sizable from the outside, and once we stepped in, the interior turned out to be quite spacious too.

There was decent space between tables, and it seemed like a good spot for a family meal. The owner greeted us warmly when we walked in, which made a great first impression. Overall, a comfortable atmosphere for eating together as a family.

Jogane Sotbap menu and prices

That day, our family ordered two sotbap hanjeongsik sets plus an extra bowl of rice and some drinks. On the menu at the time of our visit, sotbap hanjeongsik was priced at ₩14,000 and extra rice at ₩1,000. Note that menu items and prices may change depending on when you visit.

What comes with the sotbap hanjeongsik set

Not long after ordering, the banchan (side dishes) started coming out one by one. When we visited, the basic side dishes arrived in under five minutes, and the rest of the food followed quickly after that.

A variety of namul and japchae side dishes

As the table filled up, the variety of side dishes was really more than I expected. There were beansprouts, various namul (seasoned vegetables), japchae (glass noodle stir-fry), tofu, and kimchi — all good pairings for sotbap. And that wasn't even everything, because jeyuk-bokkeum (spicy stir-fried pork), grilled fish, and stew came out too.

Once everything was out, it was way more filling than I'd imagined. A properly set sotbap hanjeongsik, and of course the star of the day — the sotbap itself.

Freshly cooked sotbap with rice scooped out of the pot

We scooped the rice out of the freshly cooked pot and poured water into it to make sungnyung (scorched rice tea) for later. Honestly, it wasn't that any single dish stood out — trying everything one by one, it all just suited our family's taste really well overall. We kept going back for more japchae, namul, tofu kimchi, jeyuk, and grilled fish.

Jeyuk (stir-fried pork), grilled fish and stew

Since the Jogane Sotbap hanjeongsik comes with both jeyuk and grilled fish, the whole spread felt even more substantial. The stew came out bubbling in a ttukbaegi (earthenware pot). Sipping the hot broth between bites of rice worked really well.

Pairing the sotbap with whatever side dish we felt like at the moment, we finished a whole bowl of rice before we knew it. Just as we were about to wrap up, we finally drank the sungnyung from the pot we'd filled with water earlier. Ending on something warm made the whole meal feel that much more satisfying.

Empty plates: how the meal tasted

You can probably tell how well we ate that day just from the photos taken afterward.

Empty plates after finishing the meal

I'm not exaggerating — we really cleaned up everything that came out that day. The table started out completely full and ended up almost entirely empty.

Is Jogane Sotbap good for a family meal out in Haman?

We went looking for lunch during a family outing to Haman and ended up at Jogane Sotbap. Visiting in person, the parking lot was spacious and convenient, and the restaurant itself felt roomy too. What stuck with me most was getting to eat sotbap alongside a whole spread of side dishes, jeyuk, grilled fish, and stew. It suited our family's taste well, and we walked out full and satisfied down to the last bowl of sungnyung. If you're out in Haman with family looking for Korean food or a sotbap hanjeongsik,
