What kind of coffee shop is Nerdy Blue Burrow in Wangsimni, Seoul?
Nerdy Blue Burrow is a atmospheric hand-drip café across from Sambu Apartments in Wangsimni. The interior has a different feel from franchise cafés, and you can try the coffee of the day, dripped from a variety of beans. On the way I also walked past Haengdang Lacerbo Summit, the apartment complex I used to want to live in more than anywhere else, and had a good look around.
The coffee of the day at Nerdy Blue is hand-drip, and their cold-aged hand drip is a signature menu item too. The coffee of the day uses specialty beans, and the aroma and flavor were excellent. Since it was afternoon, I had a decaf cold brew and my husband ordered the coffee of the day. That day's coffee had exactly the acidity and lingering floral finish in the mouth that I love.. Because of the caffeine, next time I'm definitely going in the morning to drink it.

Oh.. was there a café like this in Wangsimni? That's the feeling I got. The exterior alone is amazing. They say the "Burrow" in Nerdy Blue Burrow refers to the Burrow, Ron's house in Harry Potter. The first Nerdy Blue branch is apparently near Hoegi. It's a hand-drip and cold brew specialist, and a roastery café that roasts its own beans in small batches.

The coffee of the month announced in the shop was Rwanda Mujina washed.
I think the coffee of the month is the coffee of the day. Going by the cup notes, it looks like a bean with lots of acidity and fruity aromas of blueberry and orange juice. It already feels like a proper specialty café. I mostly grab cheap takeout coffee from franchises, but now and then I crave a delicious specialty hand drip like this.
Inside Nerdy Blue Burrow: dim lighting and vintage décor
I totally loved the atmosphere inside Nerdy Blue Burrow too. Even the fabric wrapped around the lights shows an amazing sense of interior design. The place is decorated with old things, and it all fits together well, and the dim lighting made me feel at ease. I was lucky to get a sofa seat, so I sat there.

I visited in the afternoon, so I ordered the decaf cold brew. Choosing decaf is +₩900, and since caffeine is a worry in the afternoon, I'm so glad there's a decaf option. Every coffee drink except hand drip can be switched to decaf.
How were the classic financiers?
The classic financier (small French almond cake) at Nerdy Blue Burrow was really good. A chewy, dense financier with fresh cream.. the sweet-and-salty combo is just so good. Dessert really has to be eaten with a bitter Americano.
Peru Las Tiringes anaerobic washed: how does it taste?
The coffee of the month my husband drank that day was Peru Las Tingringes anaerobic washed. I also liked the cup-note descriptions, the kind you see at a good hand-drip specialty café. I'm definitely going in the morning next time.. I took a sip of the coffee of the month my husband ordered, and it had a lovely acidity, exactly my kind of coffee.
It was a Peruvian specialty bean with notes of cherry, floral and sugarcane. The brownish glass cup is so pretty too.
Is Nerdy Blue Burrow good for working on a laptop?
Nerdy Blue Burrow is in the residential part of the neighborhood, not the busy Wangsimni Station side, so it looked like a lovely spot for a quiet weekend coffee and some laptop work.. I want to move to this neighborhood haha
How does the decaf cold brew taste?
The decaf cold brew I ordered tasted somewhere between a dark roast and a medium roast, with nuttiness rather than acidity as its character.
