Wood-fired pizza and pappardelle for three in Cheonan: Napoli Shinbu

I was looking for a good-looking, tasty pasta and wood-fired pizza spot in Sinbu-dong, Cheonan, and ended up at Napoli Shinbu. It had been a while since I'd had a meal with my siblings, so we went together, and both the vibe and the food were satisfying.

Where is Napoli Shinbu, and where do you park?

Napoli Shinbu is located behind the Cheonan intercity bus terminal, near a jangkalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) restaurant, so it wasn't hard to find. For parking, you can just park on the street in front of the restaurant.

What the Napoli Shinbu dining room feels like

Overall, the interior of Napoli Shinbu felt clean and pleasant. It also had a softly romantic touch, so it would work well as a date spot too.

Ordering by table kiosk: three dishes for three people

You order from a kiosk on the table. There were tons of menu options, and I liked that each item came with a description of what it was.

There were three of us, so we ordered calzone salad, burrata pizza, and carbonara pappardelle. We thought that would be about right for three people, but as each dish came out, the portions turned out to be way bigger than expected.

Calzone salad: a generous plate to start

The first dish to arrive was the calzone salad. Even just visually, the portion was quite generous. It came with a big loaf of bread and plenty of salad — enough to fill you up just by looking at it.

I was especially surprised at how big the bread turned out to be —

You cut the soft bread into bite-sized pieces, stuff the salad inside, and it's absolutely delicious!

The bread was soft and mild, so it paired really well with the salad.

Burrata pizza piled with arugula

Napoli Shinbu's burrata pizza had a great crust, probably because it's baked in a wood-fired oven. It was topped with plenty of arugula, plus roasted tomatoes and cheese on top.

The distinctive aroma of the arugula, the flavor of the roasted tomatoes, and the soft taste of the cheese all came together really well.

Best of all, the burrata cheese on top was really substantial, giving it a soft, moist texture,

and eating it piled onto a slice of the pizza made it taste even creamier.

Carbonara pappardelle in a thick, creamy sauce

The carbonara pappardelle looked really thick and creamy just from the sauce alone, and it truly tasted that rich and deep.

It uses pappardelle noodles, which are wider than regular pasta noodles, so the texture was much chewier.

There was also plenty of mushroom and bacon mixed in, which made for a really well-balanced bite.

Is Napoli Shinbu worth a visit in Cheonan?

This visit to Napoli Shinbu left me impressed from the moment we walked in — the interior was clean and pleasant, and the portions and menu lineup were satisfying overall. If you're looking for a generous, delicious Italian meal and a relaxed dining experience in Sinbu-dong, Cheonan, I'd recommend Napoli Shinbu.
