Yangyang café with electric boats for families: Cafe Dunchi

In short

Cafe Dunchi is a café at the Namdaecheon Water Leisure Sports Center in Yangyang, Gangwon. I rode a six-person round electric boat with my two young children and drinks, and liked being able to sit facing one another; the wide parking area and stroller-friendly surroundings were also convenient.

Can you enjoy a café and electric boat ride with a baby in Yangyang?

While traveling in Yangyang with my children, I was looking for an activity we could do together and found Cafe Dunchi (카페 둔치). It is located alongside the Namdaecheon Water Leisure Sports Center, so we could use the café and ride an electric boat in one place.

Were parking and stroller walks convenient?

The parking area was wide, and the surrounding scenery was nice. My older child was excited as soon as we arrived and ran around everywhere.

Because my child likes water, simply looking out at the water’s edge made them happy.

It felt unusual to have a café floating on the river. The area was easy to walk around with a stroller, so getting around with my younger child, who was not yet walking, was not inconvenient. I also liked the view of the river and mountains together.

What electric boat types and ride times are available?

There were two types of electric boat, for four and six people, and each ride lasted 30 minutes. The price difference between the two types was about ₩7,000. The original post listed café hours as 10:00–21:00 and boat hours as 10:00–18:00.

We chose the six-person round boat.

What were the café interior and drinks like?

Before boarding, we went up to the second-floor café and ordered drinks. The interior was spacious and had a nice view, so I thought it would be nice to sit and rest there after the boat ride. We were heading to our accommodation afterward, so we took our drinks onto the boat.

From the café, we could see both the Namdaecheon and the sea. It was a nice place to take a short break while looking at the waterside scenery with the children.

There was a fairly varied drink menu, and I thought the price range was reasonable. We ordered a vanilla latte and a cherry coke, and both were good; I especially liked that the coffee was strong.

There was also a varied bakery selection. We had eaten a big lunch, so we only ordered drinks this time, but next time I would like to try some bread at the café after riding the boat.

What was it like riding an electric boat with two young children?

We put on life jackets before boarding. Both children’s and adult sizes were available, and I carried my younger child in a baby carrier.

The six-person boat had plenty of space, and I liked that the round seating let our family sit facing one another. The day was cloudy, but I still liked the view from the boat.

We set off after placing our drinks in the holders. It was not fast, so I felt it was good for riding with two young children. The steering was also fairly easy, so my four-year-old older child tried holding the wheel.

My older child was excited to change the boat’s direction. However, there were moments when we nearly bumped into another boat or got close to a buoy, so the adults steered and changed direction then.

My younger child also enjoyed riding on the moving boat. Spending time on the water with the children while drinking our drinks was a memorable part of this Yangyang trip.
