Yangyang café by the river after an electric boat ride: Cafe Dunchi

I visited the Namdaecheon Water Leisure Sports Center and Cafe Dunchi in Yangyang with my parents-in-law. It was a family outing where we rode an electric boat on the calm river and also spent time at a café overlooking the river.

What else did we see before and after the boat ride?

Namdaecheon had a calm atmosphere that stood out to me. The walking paths around the Water Leisure Sports Center were neatly laid out, so it was nice to walk slowly and talk with my family.

We also visited the nearby Gapyeong-ri canola flower field. When we went, yellow canola flowers were in bloom, so we took family photos.

What are the Namdaecheon electric boat prices and boarding process?

I first checked the prices and bought tickets. At the time of my visit, an electric boat for up to four people was ₩28,000, while one for up to six people was ₩35,000, and the ride lasted 30 minutes.

We chose an electric boat so the family could ride together. After buying our tickets, we had to put on red life jackets that fit properly before boarding.

Was the electric boat difficult to operate?

After boarding, we learned the simple controls. I worried that steering might be difficult at first, but the steering-wheel operation was straightforward and easier to handle than I expected. It was nice to move slowly at our own pace along the gentle water.

Was 30 minutes in the sun comfortable?

Before boarding, I was concerned that the sun would be too strong and tire us out quickly. Once we were on board, the boat's wide roof blocked the sunlight, and the river breeze made it feel cool when I rode.

We drank cool beverages we had bought from the café before boarding and listened to music connected by Bluetooth. Spending time with my family in the river breeze made the 30 minutes pass quickly.

Where is Cafe Dunchi, and what is it like?

Cafe Dunchi (카페 둔치) is on the second floor of the building connected to the ticket office. I could combine the electric boat experience and a café visit in one route.

The interior had high ceilings and a warm wood-toned ceiling. Plants placed throughout the space made it feel cozy.

Through the floor-to-ceiling windows on every side, I could take in Namdaecheon and the green ridgelines at a glance. The terrace seating let me feel the river breeze, making it a good place to rest while looking at the river.

What bakery items were available at the café?

There was a varied selection of drinks and baked goods. The display case held honey bread, castella sponge cake, roll cake, madeleines, financiers, croque monsieur, and more.

I was told that all the baked goods were made in-house. There was a selection of breads and baked pastries to have with coffee.

How was the outing with my parents-in-law?

My parents-in-law also enjoyed the electric boat experience. For our family, it was satisfying to take a slow boat ride on Namdaecheon and then visit a café overlooking the river. We also explored the nearby walking paths and canola flower field, taking family photos along the way.
