What is Casedby Seongsu?
Casedby Seongsu is a 24-hour unmanned workshop near Seongsu Station where you design your own phone case. I've been going to Seongsu a lot lately, and while looking for places to visit I found somewhere new. Instead of buying an ordinary phone case, you can design your very own at this unmanned workshop!!
Since it's unmanned, it's no pressure even if you go alone, and with 24-hour opening there's no time limit, which sounds really convenient. It seemed good for anyone looking for a fun Seongsu date idea, and for people like me who wanted to make a custom case, so I went to check it out. Haha

Do you need a reservation at Casedby Seongsu?
No reservation was needed at Casedby Seongsu. I went on a weekday around 3–4 PM and could use it right away with no wait. I had one reason for going! Phone cases are pretty expensive these days (I especially wanted a MagSafe one..), and if I'm buying one anyway, I wanted my own design rather than a common one.
Then I found out about Casedby near Seongsu Station, and what I liked most was that you can design and make it yourself. Using it was simpler than I expected.
How to make a custom phone case, and prices
At the Casedby kiosk, you choose either a clear case (₩22,800) or a MagSafe case (₩28,700), pick your phone model, and then start designing with a QR code. First, press the custom order start button,

choose the product you want on the unmanned kiosk, either the clear case (₩22,800) or the MagSafe case (₩28,700),

and pick your phone model,

and a QR code is generated.

Choose an artist design or your own photo on the QR design page
Scan the QR code with your phone and the design page opens. This is where you really start making your own case. You can pick one of the artists' designs and order that,

or upload your own photo to make a one-of-a-kind custom case.

As the instructions say, you can import photos freely, and there's a background removal (cutout) function too, so I was done faster than I expected while arranging things.

I fumbled around a little at first, but after pressing a few buttons it wasn't hard at all. I made one with an artist's design,

and designed the other myself with a photo of our dog. Haha

Once you finish designing and pay, production starts!

Samples of all the artists' works are displayed in the store, so you can see the real thing before choosing!

Can you buy keyrings and goods at Casedby too?
Casedby Seongsu sells not only phone cases but also keyrings and various other goods.

You can pay for these right at the kiosk too.

I only made phone cases this time, but I thought I'd like to make a keyring as well next time.

How was the quality of the finished custom case?
The custom cases made at Casedby were sturdier than I expected, with a clean finish. Ta-da, this is what comes out when it's done!

I was really happy with the finished case. It was sturdier than I expected and the finish was clean.

I also liked how practical it is, since the design protects the camera lenses too. Best of all, it's a phone case of my own that you can't easily find anywhere else. Haha

I think it would be lovely to make matching custom cases as a couple on a Seongsu date~
Pros and cons of a 24-hour unmanned workshop
What I personally liked most about Casedby Seongsu was that it's unmanned and open 24 hours. There's no need to reserve, and you can drop by easily late at night or at an awkward hour, which is a big plus.
Since everyone does the design on their own phone, I also felt there'd hardly be any waiting even if it gets a bit crowded. That said, it might not be easy for people who have trouble using a smartphone..? The store was clean and cool, so it was nice for taking your time with the design.

Is a ₩28,700 custom MagSafe case a fair price?
Considering what MagSafe phone cases cost these days, I felt ₩28,700 for a Casedby custom case where you can add your own design is a pretty fair price. I'd recommend it to people who love custom cases or want to make a cute, special phone case.
The artists' designs are really varied too, so cat lovers and fans of cute illustrations should be happy.

If you're looking for places to visit in Seongsu, or a different kind of Seongsu date idea, Casedby Seongsu is worth a visit. It's fun to make yourself, and you can use the finished case for a long time, so my satisfaction was really high.
