Wedding prep is in full swing, and before our total studio shoot we did a dress pre-fitting. My fiancé got wedding hair and makeup at Today Makeup, a makeup salon in Hongdae. The before-and-after comparison really shows how skilled the designers are, so let's see how it turned out.
Where is Today Makeup in Hongdae, and where can you park?
Today Makeup is on the 2nd floor of a building about a 5-minute walk from Exit 1 of Hongik Univ. Station (26-8 Woldeukeopbuk-ro 1-gil, Mapo-gu, Seoul). Hours are Mon–Sat 08:00–17:00 and Sunday 08:00–15:00, and an early start is apparently possible too.
Parking in Hongdae is seriously hard, right? Today Makeup has 4 spots on the ground floor. Just leave the visitor vehicle pass in your car.

Inside Today Makeup: waiting area and fitting room
Inside there's a spacious waiting area, lockers and hangers, plus a separate fitting room with a full-length mirror. My fiancé was the one going in for hair and makeup, so why am I the one getting nervous?
Stepping into the salon, a wide waiting area opened up. There are lockers for your bags, and hangers and clothes hangers too, so waiting was comfortable.
There are hair and makeup stations spread around the salon, so you can get done privately without overlapping with other customers. That's a real plus.
Changing clothes after hair and makeup is a hassle, isn't it? There's a separate fitting room with a full-length mirror inside, so changing was easy.

First we headed over for the makeup.
There are so many cosmetics, and before starting, a consultation covers the hairstyle you want and the makeup they think suits your face. I could tell right away that a professional is different.
This is the bare face before makeup. I was curious how it would change too.
First, they smoothed the skin texture so the makeup would sit well.
Then came the makeup, which they did in no time. Honestly I didn't see a big difference at this point, but once the hair was done I understood why people get hair and makeup together.
A natural low bun with soft baby hairs left down
We asked for a low bun, and since this was a dress pre-fitting and not the wedding day, they let the baby hairs down naturally so the photos would look natural.
Once the hair was done, the whole feel changed completely! The makeup looked really well done too.
It was my first time getting hair and makeup done, and it turned out so pretty that I have no idea how many photos I took.
They thoughtfully packed a lip product and cotton swabs for small touch-ups. Thanks to the great wedding hair and makeup, the dress pre-fitting went well too.
