A review from a visit with a discount: Grill Duck (그릴덕), a duck restaurant near Starfield Bucheon.

On a day when I'd really sweated through a workout, I decided to treat my body to something restorative, so I went for a drive and set out to find a good restaurant in Siheung. I was excited about having jar barbecue for the first time in a while, and my steps toward the restaurant were already light.

What about parking and the waiting area at Grill Duck?
Grill Duck has a large private parking lot behind the building, so I could visit comfortably without worrying about parking.

Right inside the entrance there is a waiting area. It is separate from the dining room but indoors, so waiting should be comfortable even on a hot or rainy day.

The restaurant is long and narrow, with plenty of tables, enough to seat large groups. Overall it felt clean and tidy.

Tables are laid out generously down the middle of the hall and along the walls. There are both sofa seats and regular chairs, so you can sit however suits your party size. A menu listing the main dishes hangs on the wall.

Hangari Barbecue 1-geun set: what's in it and the price
This is the Grill Duck menu. It ranges from the signature fresh duck salt-grill to jumulleok (marinated, hand-seasoned meat). The wall lists the "Hangari Barbecue 1-geun set" (1 geun is a traditional weight unit, about 600 g for meat), a hearty combo of chewy shoulder meat, pork belly, duck, Ottugi, vegetables and aged kimchi. It costs ₩59,000. And that was our order, done! haha

A big sign on the wall about the "benefits of duck" caught my eye. It said in detail that duck is rich in unsaturated fats and good for slowing skin aging, circulation and more, so I read it while waiting for the food.

The self-serve bar and basic side dishes
In the middle of the restaurant is a neatly kept self-serve bar. Basic sides like wrap vegetables, garlic, chili peppers and aged kimchi are laid out nicely, and you can take as much as you need.

After we ordered, the basic table setting arrived. Along with wrap vegetables, garlic, chili peppers and ssamjang (seasoned dipping paste), we got fresh-looking seasoned greens and scallion salad. They were good sides to go with the meat.

The meat comes fully cooked
Our meat arrived! The pork belly, duck and shoulder meat had been barbecued in the jar and looked clean and light, and with chives and aged kimchi alongside, it looked delicious.

All the meat comes out fully cooked, not just partly seared, so on the grill you only need to warm it up a little. That means the smell doesn't cling much to your clothes, and without the hassle of grilling, you can dig straight into good meat, which was even more convenient.

Thanks to the clean, mild flavor typical of jar barbecue, it went well with whatever wrap combination I tried. It wasn't harsh but still had a nutty richness, so I kept reaching for more without feeling weighed down.

Ottugi duck stew, included in the set
Next came Ottugi, a duck stew simmered for a long time in a ttukbaegi (earthenware pot), with hot broth and plenty of ingredients that left an impression. The bowl of rice served with it was packed down firmly, far more than a regular serving, about 1.5 servings by feel. There was no shortage for a hearty meal.

The richly simmered broth had deep savory flavor, and with plenty of tender duck in it, it was perfect as a restorative dish.

Coffee for dessert, and an overall verdict on Grill Duck
Finally, there was a dessert coffee machine. And iced Americano plus disposable plastic cups, only the second time I've seen that this year! It felt like a thoughtful touch that even considers takeout, a small thing but a smart one.
If you're looking for a filling meal in Siheung, I'd confidently recommend this place. The clean flavor of the jar-smoked meat and the generous spread kept me satisfied from start to finish. Adding the Ottugi made my body feel properly fortified, like the ultimate restorative meal! haha The coffee was also thoughtfully prepared, so the mood stayed good right to the end of the meal. Taste, portions and service were all satisfying, so I'd happily come back to this Siheung spot next time I want a restorative meal.
