Family ramen shop at City Hall Station: tonkotsu for 3 kids, Mentsuru

Mentsuru City Hall Branch is a Japanese ramen shop near Exit 10 of City Hall Station in Jung-gu, Seoul. At the end of an early-summer weekend outing around City Hall, the writer's three kids each had tonkotsu ramen (11,000 won) and the writer had spicy tonkotsu ramen (11,500 won), 44,500 won in total. The rich but clean broth and thick chashu meant every child emptied their bowl, so Mentsuru City Hall Branch is worth recommending for family dinners and for City Hall office workers eating solo.

Daedong Korean Buffet & Dosirak (대동한식뷔페&도시락) is a Korean buffet in Yangji-eup, Cheoin-gu, Yongin, that opens at 6 a.m. and lets diners fill a lunchbox themselves from the buffet side dishes. On the morning of a Caribbean Bay trip, a family of five stopped at Daedong Korean Buffet & Dosirak for toast to take the edge off their hunger, then packed jeyuk bokkeum (spicy stir-fried pork), namul (seasoned vegetables) and pork cutlet to eat for lunch at the water park. Daedong Korean Buffet & Dosirak is a good way to sort out both breakfast and lunch costs on an Everland or Caribbean Bay day.
