Weeknight sushi set in Songdo, Incheon: Sushi Doku The Songdo

In short

Sushi Doku The Songdo is a Japanese restaurant in Yeonsu, Incheon, serving sushi set meals at Onesta Mall. After visiting Hyundai Premium Outlet Songdo, I had the ₩19,900 Bonpum Sushi Set and ₩25,900 Myeongpum Sushi Set on an early weekday evening. Sushi Doku The Songdo is a hearty post-shopping sushi stop.

Dinner after Hyundai Outlet Songdo at Sushi Doku The Songdo

One of my absolute favorite Songdo restaurants, and I’ve revisited it more than 10 times. Whenever I come to Hyundai Outlet Songdo or Songdo Onesta, I pretty much always make sure to eat at Sushi Doku The Songdo again.

It’s on the second floor of Onesta Mall. I stopped by for dinner while I was visiting Hyundai Outlet Songdo, haha.

Finding this place was so confusing the first time, but now Sushi Doku The Songdo is such a Songdo favorite that I could get here with my eyes closed. Just head out through the passage connecting Hyundai Premium Outlet Songdo and the second floor of Onesta, and Sushi Doku is right there!

A quiet early weekday dinner

I visited in the early evening on a weekday, so I could eat during a relatively quiet time at Sushi Doku. On weekends it is absolutely packed... I recommend coming on a weekday when you’re craving sushi.

Bonpum or Myeongpum sushi set—which one?

There are individual sushi items and sets. I always get either the Bonpum Sushi Set or the Myeongpum Special Sushi Set. You can enjoy Sushi Doku The Songdo’s fresh sushi for a slightly lower price with takeout. But the side dishes, like the fried items, steamed egg, and udon, are ridiculously good, so I recommend just eating there...

I had already decided what to eat before leaving home, but I still read the menu from top to bottom for no reason. I ordered one Bonpum Sushi Set for ₩19,900 and one Myeongpum Sushi Set for ₩25,900. The two differ a little in their sushi selection and whether fried items are included.

The Myeongpum Sushi Set comes with a wider range of sushi, including monkfish liver, but... I happened to be craving rolled omelet and inari sushi today, so I chose Bonpum. Myeongpum sushi is a little more luxurious, though.

Write a receipt review and you get premium otoro sushi free per person! It says it is worth about ₩6,900—whoa. I think they were running this event when I came about six months ago too, so it has been going on for quite a while... Such a great deal. Everyone, join in.

Ten pieces of sushi and warm sides

The Bonpum Sushi Set came out pretty quickly. Ten nicely arranged pieces of sushi arrive with fresh salad, udon, and steamed egg. And the salad can be refilled, too.

And this is... the Myeongpum Sushi Set, but I took the photo upside down, so this is how it looks... I was too focused on eating; there was nothing I could do.

These gorgeous sushi pieces. The food is so pretty, it almost looks like a display model. Personally, I’m not usually into monkfish liver sushi, but theirs was genuinely rich and delicious! Overall, the fish was incredibly fresh, and, as you would expect from a great sushi spot, even the wasabi was tasty—wow.

And the steamed egg served as a side. It is soft and warm, so it goes beautifully with the sushi. There are ginkgo nuts inside, too!!

The fish slices on Sushi Doku The Songdo’s sushi are on another level... With every bite, the thick fish and just-right shari (seasoned sushi rice) hit your mouth, and it tastes absolutely amazing.

If there is such a thing as the golden ratio of fish to shari, maybe it is Sushi Doku’s sushi... With all sorts of thoughts like that, I finished another happy meal today...

Convenience items by the exit after the meal

Thoughtful conveniences after the meal

On the way out, there is mouthwash, floss, and toothpicks ready to use, so if you feel a little uneasy, I recommend grabbing the whole set and heading to the restroom. It is also super close to the third-floor restroom at Songhyeona.

Warm plum tea prepared at the entrance

For anyone who might dislike the lingering taste of the sea, they even have warm plum tea at the entrance—so thoughtful! The plating is pretty and the sushi is delicious, so whether you bring someone along or enjoy a solo meal while shopping, Sushi Doku The Songdo always makes for a tasty, happy meal. I’ll be back again. Seriously, I think I’ve been more than 10 times already;; I highly, highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good restaurant around Songhyeona or Onesta.
