24-hour yukgaejang with cha-dol brisket in Musil-dong, Wonju
In short
Yukdaejang Dangye Musil-jeom is a 24-hour yukgaejang (spicy beef soup) restaurant in Musil-dong, Wonju, Gangwon. The cha-dol yukgaejang, made with oxtail broth, scallions, brisket, and beef shank, and the daejang so-galbi-jjim (braised short rib stew) with glass noodles and rice cake, dipped in mustard sauce, were both standouts. With free parking for about 50 cars and round-the-clock hours, it's an easy pick for family meals or late-night cravings.

When I'm craving a spicy, gut-warming soup, the first place that comes to mind in my neighborhood is Yukdaejang Dangye Musil-jeom (육대장 단계무실점), and I finally made it over there.
Close to Wonju City Hall and the bus terminal, with plenty of parking
The exact address is 8 Roanoke-ro, 2nd floor, Wonju, Gangwon, sitting right on the boundary between Musil-dong and Dangye-dong. It's close to both Wonju City Hall and Wonju Bus Terminal, so it's really easy to get to.
Best of all, there's a spacious lot right in front of the restaurant with room for 50-plus cars, which made driving there super convenient.
On top of that, the place is open 24 hours (closed Tuesday 21:30 to Wednesday 09:30), so it's a huge plus that you can drop by whenever — late-night cravings, an early breakfast before work, whatever the hour.

What's the vibe like inside?
After parking and walking in, you're greeted by an open, high-ceilinged space with a clean, pleasant interior.
As you'd expect from a place designated a 'Safe Restaurant' by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, the cleanliness and hygiene management were thoroughly on point.
The spacious layout with generously spread-out tables makes it a great fit for family meals or group dinners, but it also works just fine for solo diners looking for a bowl of guk-bap (soup with rice) or kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup), plus takeout and delivery customers — whatever you're there for, the space handles it.
The owner and staff were also really friendly, which made the whole meal even more pleasant.

How's the cha-dol yukgaejang, with that oxtail broth?

The first main dish we ordered was the house specialty: cha-dol yukgaejang. It's simmered in a carefully made traditional oxtail broth loaded with fresh scallions and beef brisket, giving it a deep, rich flavor that's hands-down the best part.
It's also packed with savory brisket, which takes the broth's richness and umami up another level. The mild sweetness of the scallions mingles with the beef broth for a soup that's spicy yet clean-tasting.
Pour rice into it and take a big spoonful, and you get that deep, satisfying feeling of your stomach settling right away — this is proper yukgaejang, the kind Wonju City Hall regulars swear by.
How to enjoy the daejang so-galbi-jjim

Next up came a dish great for sharing: daejang so-galbi-jjim (braised short rib stew). Big, thick beef short ribs come piled high with plump glass noodles and chewy rice cake, and the sheer volume is impressive just to look at.
💡 A tip for enjoying the galbi-jjim at its best!
I'd recommend using scissors to gently cut the meat off the bone, then letting it simmer down over low heat.
The longer it simmers on low, the more the sauce soaks all the way into the meat, giving you a spicy-sweet, addictive broth you keep going back for.
Dip the chewy short rib meat into the tangy house-made mustard sauce and you get a combination so good it'll make you gasp.
Three things I loved, in short
- 24-hour hours & spacious parking: free parking for 50-plus cars, no time restrictions, maximum convenience
- Deep-flavored cha-dol yukgaejang: rich, spicy broth built on oxtail stock, scallions, and brisket
- Spicy-sweet galbi-jjim: an umami bomb once you cut it up and dip it in mustard sauce
Deep, rich flavor from traditional oxtail broth and scallions, a convenient parking lot and dining space you can enjoy any hour of the day, and friendly service on top of it all — Yukdaejang Dangye Musil-jeom nailed every single part of the experience.
If you're near Musil-dong or Dangye-dong in Wonju and deciding between a hearty bowl of guk-bap, a comforting kalguksu, or a filling galbi-jjim, I highly recommend giving this place a try!
