Family Korean BBQ with a playroom in Wonju: Hanmaeum Jeongyuk Sikdang

Our family filled up on delicious meat :) Hanmaeum Jeongyuk Sikdang Wonju Enterprise City Branch (한마음정육식당 원주기업도시점) is somewhere I had visited with my parents and with a couple we’re friends with, and this time I came back for a hosted meal. I remembered enjoying the meat before, and with a playroom the kids love too, it felt familiar and lovely to return 🤍

The restaurant is on the second floor of a building in Enterprise City! There were some empty storefronts on the way, but once you head farther inside, you’ll find the restaurant :) If it’s your first visit, just keep an eye out for the sign~

We parked in the building lot and went upstairs. They registered four hours of free parking after our meal, so we could take our time! Going out to eat with kids takes time—not only to eat, but also to get everyone ready to leave—so generous parking time is really nice, haha. Just make sure you get your parking registered before you go :)

A spacious interior with private rooms and a self-service bar

The dining room has such an open feel! There are lots of tables and plenty of space, so we ate without feeling cramped :) There are also separate rooms, which seemed great for bringing parents or gathering with friends’ families. Whenever I’m eating with a larger group, one of the first things I check is whether we can all sit together, so it’s always nice to see a space like this, haha.

The basic side dishes were set out for us at first, and we could pick up more at the self-service bar! When you’re eating meat, you keep reaching for the sides, so it was very convenient :) There’s an ice cream machine at the bar too! A spot kids simply can’t walk past, haha. Coffee was available as well, so we could finish with a little palate cleanser, haha.

And you can really feel the owner’s thoughtfulness here! Hair ties, dental floss, and even eyeglass lens cleaner... 👍 They’re exactly the things that are never in your bag when you need them, so I was happy to see them provided. A small detail, but one that stayed with me :)

There were plenty of high chairs too! I thought families with very young babies might wonder about this when looking for a restaurant to visit with kids in Wonju!!!

A playroom that makes eating out with kids easier

And one of the reasons I keep coming back here! The children’s playroom~ 💛💛 It wasn’t just a tiny space with a few toys; to me, it felt like somewhere kids would love almost as much as a kids’ café, haha. It was neatly maintained every time I visited, and our kids had such a fun time there too :) Parents looking for a restaurant with a playroom in Wonju, you know exactly how I feel, right...? When the kids are happy and the adults have time to eat, dining out becomes so much easierㅠ_ㅠ We enjoyed our meat while keeping an eye on the kids playing!

Half a pork portion and side dishes

There was even a serving robot, and we could choose our menu easily using the ordering device at the table :) Here’s what we ordered that day!

• Half pork portion (500 g) ₩42,900
• 1 bottle of soju and 1 bottle of beer
• Mom’s fried rice
• Mul naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles in broth)
• Steamed rice

We debated between a full portion and a half portion, then chose the half based on how much our family could eat, haha.

The basic side dishes came out like this! There was seasoned raw crab, doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), and a variety of sides to have with the meat :) I’m the kind of person who somehow feels something is missing when there’s no doenjang jjigae with grilled meat... haha. When we visited, it was nice that we could get refills of the complimentary stew! And the seasoned raw crab here... it suited my taste so perfectly 😭 I kept reaching for it while the meat cooked, haha. One little disappointment was the myeonginamul (pickled garlic leaves)! It was a side dish I had loved before, but I didn’t see it that dayㅠ_ㅠ

At last, our half pork portion arrived~ 😎 It came with pineapple, mushrooms, minari (water dropwort), and makjang (seasoned soybean dipping sauce), so there were lots of things to enjoy alongside the meat! Time to put it on the grill and cook it until golden :)

Can you see the meat cooking...? Looking at the photos makes me want to eat it againㅠ_ㅠ I do love aged meat~ Taking a bite of the thick-cut pork brought back memories of how good it was before, haha. What I want to say in introducing this as a good place to eat in Wonju Enterprise City is that I’ve come back several times :) I liked it after my first visit, so I returned with my parents and with a couple we’re friends with—making this meal feel especially nice too!

We tried the meat on its own and with minari or other side dishes. It was more fun to eat it in different combinations than just one way, haha. I tend to love a table spread with lots of accompaniments like this, so I was very satisfied 💛

My husband saw the meat and said he needed a workday drink, so he had some alcohol with it, haha. I had to drive, so I just went cheers~ with water and joined in the mood ^^;;; We were eating the same meat, but our glasses held different things, haha.

Mom’s fried rice and the mul naengmyeon my child chose

You can’t just stop after eating meat~ We ordered Mom’s fried rice to finish! I hadn’t tried it on our last visit, so I was curious :) It tasted like the fried rice you make at the end after eating samgyeopsal (pork belly) on a griddle or pot lid! You know that flavor the photo brings to mind, haha. Even though we were full, we kept taking spoonfuls 😂 After meat and rice, it finally felt like we’d had a proper full meal!

My eldest daughter chose mul naengmyeon :) The noodles were springy, and it must have suited her because she enjoyed even the broth, haha. When you go to a restaurant with kids in Wonju, you end up thinking about the children’s menu as much as the adults’ food~ That day, everyone in our family ate well, pairing whatever they wanted from steamed rice and meat to fried rice and noodles!

Maybe we came a little early, because more guests arrived by the time we had finished and were leaving :) I thought how nice it must be for people living nearby to be able to pop out for meat in their neighborhood, haha. I wish we had one in our neighborhood tooㅠ_ㅠ

A memorable family Korean barbecue meal in Wonju Enterprise City

Our return visit to Hanmaeum Jeongyuk Sikdang Wonju Enterprise City Branch! We enjoyed the meat and basic side dishes, and Mom’s fried rice, which we tried for the first time, was satisfying too :) If you’re looking for a restaurant with a playroom in Wonju and are considering parking as well as a meal for the adults, I think it’s worth a look. For our family, it will remain a memorable Wonju Enterprise City restaurant that was comfortable for a group visit too 🤍 We ate well, the kids played happily, and it was a dining-out day that made this mom happy, haha.
