My husband suddenly had a day off, so we decided to zip away on a trip! The Zizi siblings household had recently switched cars to an EV5. That meant this trip would be a car-camping trip. With no accommodation costs, we could eat lots of delicious food and enjoy a happy time. Our destination was Wonju, Gangwon! We heard there was delicious stir-fried jjukkumi (webfoot octopus) there, so we went to try it.

Near Munmak IC: What was parking like?
It is on the road near Munmak IC, so it was not hard to find. There was a large parking lot in front of and beside the restaurant, making parking easy too. A Wonju favorite that locals enjoy as well!

Singi Arrowroot Naengmyeon & Jjukkumi (신기칡냉면&쭈꾸미) was a lovely stop for a delicious time while traveling around Wonju.

Spacious table spacing and a self-serve bar
The tables were laid out nicely. As you would expect from such a spacious restaurant, I liked that there was plenty of space between them. We could eat comfortably without disturbing neighboring tables. There was a self-serve bar, so we could help ourselves to as many extra side dishes as we wanted.

A varied menu, from jjukkumi to gukbap
Singi Arrowroot Naengmyeon & Jjukkumi is a popular place in Munmak, Wonju, with a varied menu! Its signature dishes are arrowroot naengmyeon (cold noodles) and stir-fried jjukkumi, offered with various toppings.

There was also a wide selection including gukbap (rice soup), galbitang, bulgogi, dumplings, suyuk, and tteokgalbi, so choosing was part of the fun. Every menu item can be packed to go, too. For jjukkumi dishes, takeaway is available from two servings, so keep that in mind.

Ordering medium Singi Jjusam
We quickly ordered using the kiosk tablet at our table. It was nice to be able to order and pay all in one place. Zizi Siblings' Mom and her husband had decided on jjukkumi, so we ordered Jjusam, the collaboration of jjukkumi and samgyeopsal (pork belly). You can choose medium, spicy, or extra-extra spicy.

Once we ordered, the basic table setting arrived quickly. The side dishes were great too: muksabal, pickled radish wraps, roasted seaweed flakes, perilla leaves, flying-fish-roe pickled radish, garlic mayonnaise, seasoned bean sprouts, and shredded radish!

Generous rice and icy muksabal
Just look at that portion of rice! I absolutely loved the generous spirit at Singi Arrowroot Naengmyeon & Jjukkumi. They even provided sesame oil so we could mix it in. This acorn-jelly muksabal was packed with slushy ice and looked refreshing at a glance! The broth was so good that I wanted to try the arrowroot naengmyeon too. We planned to order more after trying the Singi Jjusam, but we were simply too full—what a shame. We had a delicious time, talking about coming back next time we visit Wonju.

How to enjoy Singi jjukkumi deliciously
Here are the best tips for enjoying Singi jjukkumi! Read them, then let the food adventure begin~ The jjukkumi is cooked in the kitchen, so it arrives ready to eat, which was lovely.

If the stir-fried jjukkumi tastes too spicy or salty, you can add bean sprouts from the basic side dishes to adjust the seasoning to your taste. The medium level was just right for Zizi Siblings' Mom and her husband.

Flying-fish-roe radish and garlic-mayo wraps, then Jjusam bibimbap
Following the tips for making a delicious jjukkumi wrap, I enjoyed one tasty ssam (leaf wrap). The key was piling in the crunchy flying-fish-roe pickled radish and plenty of savory garlic mayonnaise. Then it was time to add a generous helping of stir-fried Jjusam and mix it all together. I followed the tip exactly: lots of jjukkumi, then bean sprouts, shredded radish, and flying-fish-roe pickled radish on top.

Add garlic mayonnaise, a round of sesame oil, and roasted seaweed flakes, then mix it all up. That makes a delicious Jjusam bibimbap—a true rice thief that makes you forget you are supposedly on a diet. Diet starts tomorrow! We polished off every last bite of the delicious stir-fried Jjusam bibimbap and made lots of happy memories on our fun, tasty Wonju trip.
