Every morning standing in front of the mirror, so many people get stressed out by hair that hits the shoulders and flips out messily in every direction 😭 I was going through that awkward growing-out stage myself, and no matter what styling I tried, nothing worked, which was incredibly frustrating. I found Heeol Hair Gangnam while looking for a private space where I could get a stylist's full attention, rather than the factory-line system of a big salon. As soon as I arrived, I sat down for a proper consultation with designer Subin, who examined my hair carefully and pinpointed exactly what condition it was in.

When I explained my whole awkward-stage struggle, the designer looked at my current hair and told me that since it had only been two months since my last perm, doing a full perm again could stress the hair too much, and that the smartest move would be to lightly trim just the ends where the shape had fallen apart and bring the texture back to life.

Honestly, since I'm growing my hair out, part of me wanted to just chop off all the damaged parts, but seeing her hold back from pushing unnecessary services and instead suggest only the design I truly needed, based on my face shape and hair damage overall, gave me a lot more professional trust, haha. I've been to several hair salons near Gangnam Station, but I rarely met a designer who thought from the customer's perspective first like this, haha.

How much did the perm cost?

The price was reasonable for the Gangnam Station area too — a full perm for short hair was ₩210,000! (I added the ₩60,000 treatment care clinic on top!)

Thanks to designer Subin, I finally escaped the awkward stage

While the service was happening, designer Subin and I talked a lot about hair care. When I mentioned my usual struggle with flipping hair from natural waviness, she explained in detail how to manage it. In particular, since my hair is thick and the ends kept hitting my shoulder line and flipping backward, she gave me specific guidance on which direction to blow-dry it in to prevent that.

After washing my hair and before starting the actual perm, she was very careful with the cut too — what stood out was her attitude of first understanding what the customer wanted and then doing her best to tailor the care to that. The mood stayed relaxed the whole time, and the salon itself felt calm, warm, and uncluttered, so I genuinely felt like I was healing.

The Sinnonhyeon area around Gangnam is packed with big, hectic salons, so having a private space just for myself was a real advantage.

When I checked the mirror after the service, the hair that kept flipping out was now designed to curl inward naturally and elegantly...!! It was exactly the style I wanted — how did she understand so perfectly what I meant, haha. Seeing the result, I couldn't believe I'd stressed over the awkward stage for so long.

The C-curl perm that was even more satisfying because styling got so easy

Styling at home in the morning got so much easier — my usual 30-minute prep time got cut down by more than 10 minutes.

I told her I'm honestly hopeless at styling my own hair, but she gave me a cut that looks great with basically zero effort — just blow-dry it any old way and it works, so my mornings got so much easier, haha. I've especially been putting to great use the tip designer Subin gave me for drying the shoulder-area hair so it doesn't flip out!
