Ulsan brunch café for jambon basil sandwiches: Benetto (베네또)

In short

Benetto (베네또) is a brunch café near Ulsan City Hall in Nam-gu, where a friend and I ordered two iced Americanos and shared a jambon basil grilled sandwich (ham and basil). The fragrant focaccia sandwich was surprisingly filling for two, and I liked the calm space with its warm wood tones. However, sandwiches only started appearing in the display one by one as we were finishing our meal.

On a friend's recommendation, I stopped by Benetto (베네또), a brunch café near Ulsan City Hall. We ordered two iced Americanos and shared a jambon basil grilled sandwich (ham and basil). It was more filling than I expected, so it struck me as a place to keep in mind for a sandwich lunch nearby.

Where is Benetto, and where did we park?

Benetto is on the first floor at 4 Jungang-ro 213beon-gil, Nam-gu, Ulsan, South Korea (울산광역시 남구 중앙로213번길 4 1층). We drove and used the Ulsan City Hall parking lot. It felt fairly spacious and was convenient to use. I remember there being a period of free parking at the time, but I couldn't confirm exactly how long, so check the signs there.

The café occupies the lower part of a brick building and has a frontage of full-height windows. Even from outside, it felt warm and calm.

How much were the sandwiches and coffee?

When we visited, a sign advertised ₩1,000 off all drinks for takeout. That was useful to know for anyone picking up coffee nearby.

We ordered two iced Americanos at ₩4,000 each and one jambon basil grilled sandwich for ₩10,000. I wanted to try other things too, but even sharing one sandwich left us both fairly full.

What was the café like inside?

The solid wood bar was the first thing I noticed when we walked in. Wood tones ran throughout the space, making it feel warm and easy on the eyes.

The calm wood interior stayed with me. I like a quiet, comfortable setting for brunch, and this suited my taste.

I also noticed the coffee machine. It was the same kind I was used to seeing, so it was nice to recognize it.

Were all the sandwiches and desserts ready?

They sold desserts such as cheesecake and a variety of sandwiches. However, it seemed that not all the sandwiches were ready when I visited. They only started being put on display one by one as we finished eating and were about to leave.

Based on that experience, I thought there might be fewer sandwiches to choose from early in the morning. There might be more options by late morning or lunchtime, but I didn't confirm exactly when they were ready.

How did the sandwich and coffee taste?

Before eating, I used the self-service station. It had water, forks and napkins, and the area was tidy and easy to use.

Our iced Americanos and jambon basil grilled sandwich arrived. The sandwich was made with focaccia and came in two pieces.

The Americano had just a hint of acidity. To my taste, it wasn't very sour and had a clean finish that made it easy to drink. It also went well with the sandwich.

The basil came through clearly in the sandwich and paired well with the jambon. The focaccia wasn't too tough, so it was easy to bite through along with the filling.

The disposable gloves they provided were handy too. They helped keep sauce and basil off my hands while I ate the sandwich.

Was one sandwich enough for two?

At first, I thought we'd finish a single sandwich in no time. But the two pieces of focaccia held a fair amount of filling, and it was enough for brunch for the two of us. From my experience, it also seemed like a good option for people working nearby who wanted a sandwich for lunch.

I enjoyed the combination of a sandwich fragrant with basil, coffee with a little acidity, and the warm wood surroundings. I was a little disappointed that I only got to try one kind of sandwich this time. Next time I'm in Ulsan, I'd like to try another sandwich and the cheesecake.

What opening hours and closures were listed?

When the original post was written, the listed hours were Monday–Friday 08:00–19:00 and Saturday 10:00–17:00. The café was listed as closed every Sunday, with an additional closure on Sep 25, 2026, for Chuseok (Korean harvest holiday).
