Gimhae Jillye gallery café with triple cheese ciabatta: Peer a Peer
In short
Peer a Peer is a large gallery-style bakery café in Jillye-myeon, Gimhae, built inside a 40-year-old factory that was renovated rather than torn down. On a mid-September visit the pampas grass photo zone was in full bloom and a solo exhibition by artist Theo Ahn So-hyun filled the left-hand hall, while the order came to a triple cheese ciabatta at 5,500 won, a lemon meringue croissant at 6,500 won and americanos made with Momos beans at 5,500 won each. The book-lined room on the right side of Peer a Peer is the spot worth settling into for a long stay.

Today I'm posting about a large bakery gallery café in Jillye, Gimhae called 'Peer a Peer'!
Peer a Peer is a place that renovated a 40-year-old abandoned factory in Gimhae's industrial complex into a café, where you can enjoy various bakery items along with artworks that change seasonally in this gallery-style large café. It's currently pampas grass season and I heard it was blooming beautifully, so I went to check it out!

- ⊹ Hours: 11:00 - 22:00
- ⊹ Last order: 19:30
- ⊹ No regular closing day

As befits a large bakery café, Peer a Peer has a dedicated parking lot right in front of the store, so I could park comfortably and walk right in.

I expected the building itself to look really run-down since it's an old abandoned factory, but it was surprisingly clean and I was surprised by how huge it was.
The pampas grass photo zone in full bloom in mid-September
On the day I visited, in mid-September 2026, the pampas grass was just perfectly in full bloom, so I got to see a lot of it.

There's a space where you can sit at outdoor tables and enjoy the pampas grass,

and if you go further to the inner right side, there's a pampas grass photo zone set up, so taking photos in this space made the pampas grass look really lush and full, which I loved 🌾
Books on the right side, the exhibition hall on the left
Inside Peer a Peer, seating is arranged on both sides of the counter you see right as you enter,

The right side, with artwork displayed at the entrance, is a space lined with a huge number of books, so most people there were sitting and reading, studying, knitting, or working.
The seats themselves were spacious with a wide gap between tables, and each table had its own lighting installed, so it looked great for spending quiet time! 📚
On the left side, there were seats set up perfectly for conversation among artworks that change seasonally.

The current exhibition on display is a solo show by artist Theo Ahn So-hyun.
Works were displayed not just in the main exhibition space but scattered throughout various areas, so it was fun walking around and browsing.

For details on the exhibition and the artist, the photo above should be a good reference 〰

Seating at Peer a Peer, from framed window seats to the lit photo room
The seating prepared on the right side includes tables where you can view the pampas grass and artworks together,

a square communal table and individual tables that let you view the exhibition from different angles,

the framed-window seats, which were the prettiest spot at Peer a Peer,
and sofa tables where you can sit comfortably and spend time — there was a wide variety of seating.
Right at the innermost part of the right side, there was a curious little room set up, and it's actually a space for taking photos 📸
The space is normally dark, but when you turn on the lighting it brightens up so you can take photos — I'd never seen a space like this before, so it was intriguing and had its own unique charm!

Peer a Peer bakery and drink menu prices
When I visited it was the weekend so there were tons of people, so I grabbed a seat first and then went to order.

How the triple cheese ciabatta and lemon meringue croissant tasted
So the items we ordered at Peer a Peer were the triple cheese ciabatta (5.5), lemon meringue croissant (6.5), iced americano (5.5), and americano (5.5),

Since Peer a Peer is a fairly large store, they gave us a map of the interior along with our drinks, which was nice for exploring while looking at it ⋆.˚ ⊹ ⁺
The triple cheese ciabatta (5.5) was warmed up in-store and cut for us.

Peer a Peer's ciabatta is a soft ciabatta rather than the hard type, packed full of savory cheese inside. Dipping it into the sauce they provided combined the nutty flavor of the ciabatta with the salty flavor of the cheese, making it addictively easy to keep eating without feeling heavy,

The lemon meringue croissant (6.5) is Peer a Peer's signature item and the most popular bakery item on the menu.
It's a crispy croissant filled generously with a refreshing lemon cream, topped with soft meringue, then torched until golden brown,

The cream inside isn't so much sweet as it is intensely tangy, with a custard cream texture, so the combination of the crispy, plain croissant with the sweet cream on top was really good. And on top of that, the size was huge . . ♡
The americano (5.5) uses Momos Coffee's beans, and it had a smooth feel with not-too-strong acidity, so it was an easy, safe drink to have!
Why Peer a Peer is worth a second visit
With pretty pampas grass outdoors and impressive artworks inside, plus plenty of space to enjoy a variety of bakery items and coffee, I really liked this place — especially the book-filled area, which seemed perfect for spending time in, so I'd love to come back again sometime!
