Phone-reserved sashimi platter with makgeolli pairing: Ttangkkeut
In short
Ttangkkeut Maeul is a sashimi takeout restaurant at Noryangjin Fisheries Wholesale Market in Dongjak, Seoul, at Live Fish Section 1F No. 42-43. A small luxury sashimi platter reserved by phone the day before came loaded with black porgy, olive flounder, red seabream, sea bass, salmon, frozen bluefin tuna and a free seasonal gizzard shad service, plenty for two, plus vinegared rice mix so it could be eaten as sashimi and turned into homemade sushi.

I got a nice bottle of makgeolli (Korean rice wine) as a gift at home and went looking for a good side dish to go with it, which led me to Ttangkkeut Maeul, a well-known sashimi spot at Noryangjin Fisheries Wholesale Market. Noryangjin also takes Onnuri gift certificates, so it's great to use when picking up sashimi to go.

I'd called ahead the day before to order my takeout, so I didn't have to wait around when I arrived — just picked it up. There were quite a few other takeout customers there too.

Coming in through South Gate 1, the shop is easy to find.

What was the atmosphere like

The tanks had a variety of fresh seafood ready to go — olive flounder, rockfish, mullet, barfin flounder, sea bass, longtooth grouper and more.

Next to the display tanks, pre-packed sashimi was also lined up neatly,

and the fish is cut right there in the open, with a simple, tidy prep counter that looked very clean!
It's also verified as a partner shop through Mermaid Union Pirate Crew (a seafood-market review platform) with a high rating, which helped in my choice to visit.
Menu lineup
Assorted sashimi, Ttang-makase, Ttangkkeut Maeul three-kind platter, flounder-and-porgy platter, croaker sashimi, gizzard shad assortment, and more.

With this many options, there's something to suit any taste.
Ttangkkeut Maeul small luxury sashimi platter for two

What I ordered was the Ttangkkeut Maeul small luxury sashimi platter.
The set included: black porgy, olive flounder, red seabream, sea bass, salmon, and frozen bluefin tuna.

What I liked most was getting to taste several different species in small amounts, rather than just one kind.

The portion was satisfying for two people, and it was fun comparing the different textures and flavors. The sashimi was fresh all around, and unlike thinly sliced sashimi,

it was cut into thick pieces, so every bite had a chewy, firm texture I really enjoyed. With several kinds on one plate, comparing them as you eat is part of the fun.

Maybe because it's autumn, they also threw in some gizzard shad sashimi on the side as a free service!

The main set was already generous, and adding a seasonal item on top of that showed real thoughtfulness from the owner. 👍 I'm planning to come back soon just for gizzard shad sashimi takeout!!
Takeout setup — even vinegared rice mix included

The takeout packaging was also satisfying.

There was plenty of sauce — vinegar-chili sauce, soy sauce, ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste) — and I especially loved that they included vinegared rice mix as well.

At home, I mixed the vinegared rice mix into rice, topped it with sashimi, and made simple homemade sushi.

Sashimi and sushi both! It was great being able to enjoy two different ways from just one takeout order.

And then a drink with the makgeolli I had at home — the whole reason I got the sashimi takeout that day!

Sashimi usually makes me think of soju, but it went surprisingly well with makgeolli too.
Thoughtful service
When I placed my order, the owner asked ahead whether I'd also want ingredients for a spicy fish stew. I didn't get any this time, but if you regularly enjoy spicy fish stew, it might be worth adding on.
Customers who drove also got parking vouchers handed to them without even having to ask — a nice touch. This kind of attentive service, anticipating what customers might need, was something I really appreciated about this place.☺️
Wrapping up sashimi takeout at Noryangjin Fisheries Market

At Ttangkkeut Maeul, my Noryangjin sashimi spot for this visit, I liked being able to enjoy multiple fish species at once, the thick-cut sashimi, and the generous takeout packaging. Calling ahead the day before made pickup easy, and with so many other takeout customers there too, it felt like a place a lot of people rely on for Noryangjin sashimi takeout.
If you're looking for a good restaurant or sashimi spot at Noryangjin Fisheries Market, this is a solid choice for takeout to enjoy comfortably at home. I had a delicious time with my makgeolli. 😊
