Yangyang river café with electric boats: Cafe Dunchi
In short
Cafe Dunchi is a floating café on the Namdaecheon River in Yangyang, Gangwon, where visitors can use the café or take an electric boat. My family had drinks by the second-floor window before boating, and the child especially enjoyed trying the steering wheel; the aromatic, clean-tasting coffee and slow river views stayed with us.

In Yangyang, I had coffee with my family while looking out at the Namdaecheon River, then rode an electric boat. It was a day of enjoying both a café and a water activity at Cafe Dunchi, floating on the Namdaecheon River.

Where is Cafe Dunchi, and is parking available?
Cafe Dunchi is at 295 Ilchul-ro in Yangyang-eup. When we arrived, the Namdaecheon River and the café building floating on the water immediately caught my eye.

After parking, we entered the café along a wooden deck path. Walking along the path stretching over the river felt a little like walking on water.

What were the second-floor café seating and coffee like?
Going upstairs, I found a cozier space than it had looked from outside. The high ceiling and thick wooden rafters reminded me of a mountain lodge.

We sat by the window because we could see the Namdaecheon River through the floor-to-ceiling windows. It was a good place to rest while quietly looking at the calm river.

We ordered an iced Americano and sweet drinks the children like. Since we had come for the view, I had not expected much from the coffee, but I was pleased by its fragrant beans and clean taste.
What was it like to operate an electric boat with a child?
After resting at the café, we went down to the first-floor dock to ride the electric boat. Our boat was round and had a white dome roof.

Before boarding, we put on life jackets and received safety instructions and operating guidance from a staff member. After hearing the explanation, the controls seemed simple.

Rather than moving quickly, the boat traveled slowly. The child tried steering it too and really enjoyed that time. When we rode it, the boat felt stable in motion.

Can you bring café drinks onto the boat?
We could board with the drinks we had been having at the café. You can also connect to Bluetooth on the boat and listen to music.

The scenery while moving slowly along the Namdaecheon River felt different from the view at the café window. Drinking coffee in the river breeze and talking with my family was one of the most memorable parts of this trip.
What are the hours and weather-related restrictions?
According to the original post, café hours are 10:00–21:00 and boat hours are 10:00–18:00. It is possible to visit only the café or use only the boat experience. Other water leisure activities, including hwangpo-dotbae (yellow-sailed boats), are also available besides electric boats.

Boat operations may be restricted when weather conditions are poor, such as heavy rain or strong winds. On days with uncertain weather, it is best to ask the café about boat operations before visiting.
What stood out about this family outing?
For my family, it was nice to combine time relaxing by the river with the child’s experience of steering a boat. The clean-tasting coffee at the café and our family conversations on the water remain in my memory.
