Sukiyaki solo pot for lunch by a window view: Nahonsha, Hapjeong

In short

Nahonsha is a solo shabu-shabu and sukiyaki restaurant between Hapjeong and Sangsu stations in Mapo, Seoul. Visiting alone on a weekday at 11:30am, the writer ordered the solo special sukiyaki (₩19,900) with clear broth, added shabu meat and vegetables for a total of ₩30,400, and finished by adding egg and rice to the leftover broth. Eating by a window with a green view made solo lunch here easy and pressure-free.

An introduction image of Nahonsha's solo-pot sukiyaki

🍑 I went to Nahonsha, a shabu-shabu spot near Hapjeong Station. On busy days when you have to rush out and end up eating alone — well, these days there are lots of places where even shabu-shabu works for solo dining. Even sukiyaki comes as a solo pot here, so let me introduce a place where you can eat comfortably without feeling awkward~ 💕

You can choose the broth flavor from clear, spicy, miso, tomato, and even ✔️mala, so you could eat something different every day 😊 Here's my story of trying the solo special sukiyaki with clear broth~

Finding the way from Hapjeong or Sangsu Station

The entrance to Nahonsha, lined with lush trees

Nahonsha, the shabu-shabu spot near Hapjeong Station, is walkable from both Hapjeong and Sangsu stations. It sits right in the middle, so you can walk over from whichever is more convenient. There were such lush trees out front that I found myself peeking around the door wondering, 'wait, is this too fancy a place for me to walk into?' But,

₩11,000?? One pot shabu. Seeing the little pot on the sign by the door, I figured this must be a shabu-shabu spot where you can eat solo~ and bravely walked in.

Solo seating, the window's green view, and the interior

Nahonsha's quiet interior before the lunch rush

I went at 11:30 for lunch and it was still quiet. A little later, around noon, a lot of nearby office workers came in for lunch. Sitting by the window looking out at the green view made for a healing meal, and solo dining was totally possible.

There were group tables further inside too, but solo seating like this was plenty. By the time I left, a family of 4 adults with a stroller had come in for a meal, so there was clearly enough seating for everyone.

Ordering and the price of the solo special sukiyaki

You look at the menu on a tablet and order simply! You choose your broth — spicy, clear, mala, tomato, or miso — and choose whether it's shabu-shabu or sukiyaki.

How to eat the solo-pot sukiyaki, step by step

The sukiyaki pot starting to boil

It came to a boil quickly. Once it's bubbling, turn the heat down to 3 and start with the vegetables. The meat is already included in the pot as a base.

A sukiyaki pot filled with broth

I loved how much broth there was! But it overflowed, so I ladled some out and had my own little cooking time~ 🥰

Picking up cooked vegetables and meat

After turning the heat down to 1, I ate the vegetables and meat together with the sauce.

Sukiyaki meat dipped in egg sauce

Egg to dip the meat in, rice, and pickled radish come as the standard set, and I added extra vegetables and meat. I was really hungry that day so I got to eat my fill.

Finishing the meal with egg and rice added to the leftover broth

Once I'd finished the meat and vegetables, I beat the leftover egg into the broth and added rice too~ 🥳

Such a luxurious lunch, simmering in a pot just for me. I went alone, but looking out at the green trees while eating peacefully felt like a healing break, as if I were eating in a forest in the middle of the city~!
