Big-group dinner at Ciment, a Gung-dong pasta restaurant in Daejeon

A day I wanted good Western food in Gung-dong•••🍝 I hadn't had pasta in a while, so I looked up Western restaurants in Gung-dong and ended up at Ciment Chungnam National University Branch!

They had all kinds of Western menus ready — pasta, pizza, risotto, pilaf and more — so it was fun just picking what to order🤍 This time I picked a bunch of different menus and tried a variety••• let me introduce them one by one!

✧ Found Ciment on a Gung-dong street👀 ✧ It's right on the roadside, so it was easy to spot, and easy to get to too. Great location for a visit in Gung-dong — good accessibility! The exterior already gave off the store's vibe, so I couldn't wait to go in(о´∀`о)

What Ciment feels like at 7pm, and how kiosk ordering works

✧ Clean, comfortable interior•••❣️ ✧ I visited at 7pm and the place was already packed with customers❗️ The interior was clean overall but had posters and little decor items here and there, so it never felt plain — a cute, cozy vibe.

There were several tables set up, so it looked good for a meal with friends or a partner, and thanks to Gung-dong's university-town feel, eating there felt relaxed and easygoing. Each table had its own kiosk, so you could check the menu and order right from your seat👀

Since there were a lot of us today, we ordered one of each, like ticking off a checklist✨

Looking at the table fully spread out with food, I wondered if a single photo could even capture it all🤤 What we ordered that day was

First up, striploin garlic oil pasta!🥩 An oil pasta with striploin steak mixed in, so you could enjoy meat and pasta together.

Twirling the striploin and pasta together let you get several flavors in one bite🤍 It's a garlic oil base, so if you like oil pastas this one will catch your eye. And the whole garlic cloves mixed in were the real stroke of genius•••✨

Toowoomba shrimp pasta, 12,000 won

Next, the Toowoomba shrimp pasta I'd been curious about🍤 A Toowoomba pasta with shrimp — perfect if you like creamy pasta! Perfect for me, since I can't handle anything too rich❗️

Eating the plump shrimp together with the pasta made every bite fun haha. Shrimp and pasta — what a combo••• It had a totally different style from the oil pasta, so ordering both meant the flavors never overlapped😋

Bulgogi salad pizza, 14,000 won

And then the bulgogi salad pizza🍕 With bulgogi and salad piled on top, it felt a bit different from a regular pizza. But, the flavor — anyone Korean would love it•••💗 On top of a pizza loaded with cheese sat bulgogi and fresh salad, so you got a bunch of ingredients in one bite.

Sharing it slice by slice alongside the pasta worked really well. Personal taste, but I prefer thin crust over thick dough, so this was even more my style•••✨

Spicy cream bulgogi risotto, 9,500 won

Last up, spicy cream bulgogi risotto! A spicy cream risotto with bulgogi added, so you got soft cream and meat together. It had a totally different texture from the pastas, and switching between all four dishes made me glad we'd ordered such a variety.

Being Korean, you can't skip rice… and this dish had it built right in haha. On top of that — spicy + creamy + bulgogi + cheese combo, how could you resist that~~🤭
