Pohang seafood restaurant for split squid and flounder mulhoe: Ppwang Mulhoe

I visited Ppwang Mulhoe (퐝물회), a great mulhoe spot in Duho-dong, Pohang, near Yeongildae Beach. When you think of Pohang, mulhoe (cold raw-fish soup) is the first food that comes to mind, right? 👍😱 After a walk along Yeongildae Beach, Ppwang Mulhoe stood out for its fresh raw fish and deeply flavored broth.

Ppwang Mulhoe sits at the end of Yeongildae Beach in Pohang, where the mulhoe restaurant street is. There is restaurant parking, and if it is full, you can use the free public lot directly opposite, less than a minute away on foot. So convenient^^

The Ppwang Mulhoe sign, with its cute little squid illustration, caught my eye right away. It had been ages since I came to Pohang, and just thinking about mulhoe made me swallow!

Squid mulhoe and flounder mulhoe are popular here, and a separate self-service bar is another big draw—you can enjoy it without limits.

At the entrance, there were waiting chairs and lots of celebrity signatures—the kind you only see at famous eateries.

The dining room was packed, so we registered on the waiting pad. There were lots of customers, but turnover was good, so we did not wait very long.

Inside, matching pink high chairs and aprons were ready.💕 There was plenty of room and lots of tables—enough for families, couples, and larger group meals.👍 A large wall-mounted TV was installed in the main hall so diners could watch while eating. Hangout with Yoo was on at the time.^^

Unlimited self-service bar and free squid soup

The self-service corner was generously stocked with side dishes to enjoy alongside the mulhoe.

I thought this must be one reason it is bound to be popular as a Pohang mulhoe restaurant.

• Thin noodles, salad, napa cabbage kimchi, quail eggs

😭🙏✨️ Wow, is this a Korean buffet? Owner, can you really still make money like this? I could feel the generous spirit of Ppwang Mulhoe's owner, who gives so freely to customers.

It is not over until it is over.!!!! Even though I had not drunk the night before, the refreshing squid soup—like something that would clear you right out after a hangover—was free too. Amaaaaaazing👍👏😱

Soon, we were shown to our table. It had chojang (sweet-spicy dipping sauce), soy sauce, paper cups, a bottle opener, and wet wipes, and ordering was done by kiosk.

🙋♀️ I ordered two portions of Ppwang Mulhoe's best dish, the split mulhoe 🥢🥄, plus one Korean beef bulgogi rice bowl for our child.

I went to the self-service bar and took a little of each side dish. Before long, a separately served cold broth that got my mouth watering arrived, followed by a huge bowl of mulhoe ingredients.

The dishes we ordered were great, but! The self-service-bar food filled the whole table too👏👏👏

Over the generous mulhoe ingredients I love, I poured in as much of the chilled, lightly icy broth as I wanted. Its cool, tangy flavor was superb.

Ppwang Mulhoe in Duho-dong, Pohang, was packed with fresh raw squid and flounder, vegetables, minced garlic, sweet shredded pear, and cucumber!! By the way, you can choose cucumber through the kiosk.

I prefer eating it with just enough broth to keep it moist, so I did not add too much. It is a personal choice, so add it however you like.

After mixing it well and taking a bite, the just-right tang brought back an appetite I did not even know I had, and the savory flavor filled my mouth. The fresh raw squid and flounder were the stars, and the more I chewed, the nuttier and springier they were—so, so delicious.

I added the extra noodles from the self-service zone too, and it made for an even more generous meal.

After eating this and that, I was full, but mixing in rice was seriously heavenly too. Me, for ordering the split squid-and-flounder mulhoe! Good job, good job^^~~

Korean beef bulgogi rice bowl my child loved

This was the Korean beef bulgogi rice bowl my child ordered. The bulgogi came properly and deliciously stir-fried, with nice big pieces of meat; above all, that slowly rising bulgogi aroma was a full-on sensory attack sure to hit the kids' sweet spot^^~

I loved that Ppwang Mulhoe in Duho-dong, Pohang, has a bulgogi rice bowl: a dish that satisfies adults while also taking care of a child's mealtime.

A total rice thief~^^ My little girl gave it a thumbs-up as she ate the bulgogi, and she ate very, very well until her tummy was round and full.

After seeing Yeongildae Beach on our Pohang trip, we had fresh, delicious mulhoe at Ppwang Mulhoe, a perfect meal stop in Duho-dong, and revived an appetite we did not even have. 🍲 I think Ppwang Mulhoe is a very good choice for family, couples, or gatherings with friends.
