Pohang steak restaurant for medium-well sirloin: Plan A Restaurant

Plan A Restaurant (플랜에이레스토랑), right in front of Songdo Beach in Pohang, is a great place for a meal with wide-open ocean views. Since it has been a beloved restaurant on the Pohang Songdo waterfront since 2015, I had high expectations.

Rather than flashiness, Plan A Restaurant follows a philosophy of “honesty on a plate,” making every sauce and dressing in-house.

A spacious interior with a relaxed atmosphere

The interior was comfortable with a lovely atmosphere. The natural decor would work well whether you come with friends, a partner, family, or coworkers.

One wall was especially eye-catching, arranged with decorative objects. Since you can also place things in each compartment, it feels both distinctive and practical. Maybe it is because the furniture is made of wood, but it adds even more atmosphere.

The space is so large that it is also a very suitable spot for group gatherings such as family meals or company dinners.

They even have blankets and cushions for guests’ comfort!! These thoughtful touches are the kind of thing that stay in your mind and make you want to come back. There are plenty, too, so you can use them comfortably.

A menu from salads to steak

The menu has a wide range, from salads to pasta and rice dishes. The popular salads were the burrata cheese salad and chicken salad; for pasta, shrimp rosé spaghetti, carbonara spaghetti, and spicy shrimp cream spaghetti; and for rice, beef pilaf.

Plan A Restaurant also serves its signature Korean beef ribeye steak and Plan A beef chop steak. Luckily, the ribeye steak sold out right after I ordered mine. You can choose from five doneness options, so keep that in mind.

House-made pickles and barley tea to start

Clean, silvery tableware was set on the table, followed shortly by house-made pickles and barley tea. Perhaps because the pickles were house-made, the balance of sweetness and acidity was so satisfying, and the chilled barley tea was perfect for quenching my thirst in the heat!

Korean beef ribeye steak ordered medium-well

My menu of the day, the Korean beef ribeye steak, has arrived!! I think I waited about 15 minutes, and it looked so mouthwatering.

Looking at the cross-section, I could see that it had been cooked exactly to the doneness I chose.

Perfect medium-well doneness, with juicy meat juices flowing out!! Even while taking photos, all I could think about was wanting to eat it quickly.

It came with wasabi, salt, whole-grain mustard, and wine sauce, so there were lots of ways to enjoy it. The ribeye steak had a rich beefy aroma and was tender and nutty—really delicious.

I especially loved the wine sauce, which was full of the deep aroma of red wine. No wonder this is a beloved restaurant in Pohang Songdo.

The mashed potato garnish was also wonderfully soft and creamy!! Eating it with salt was the best way to taste its natural flavor, while personally, the whole-grain mustard was exactly my thing.

A Songdo Beach ocean-view walk after the meal

After finishing, you can walk along the ocean view that you had only been seeing through the window, and it was really beautiful.

I usually prefer the sea during the day, but the night sea was also so beautiful that this was the perfect place to take a lap and digest after eating. Cool autumn weather is arriving these days, so I think it would be lovely for a daytime walk as well.
