What is Burnish Resto?

Burnish Resto (버니쉬레스토) is a Western-style restaurant in Dongin-dong, Jung-gu, Daegu, known for its fresh pasta. I was looking for a place with good pasta, and the atmosphere looked nice too, so I booked ahead and went.

Atmosphere: good for a date or a wedding-invitation meetup?

The overall feel is casual yet stylish rather than stiff or intimidating. It was a space where I could eat comfortably and still enjoy the mood.

Since I had reserved, they had even written the reserver's name on the table with care. It felt like they had been thinking of us since before we arrived, so I was in a good mood from the start.

The table next to us was having a wedding-invitation meetup, and the table setting was lovely for the occasion. I think it would suit a date, a blind date, or any day when you want a meal with a bit of atmosphere.

Bread before the meal and QR ordering

At Burnish Resto, bread comes out before the food. It was nice to nibble on while waiting for the mains, and the bread was tasty too.

What did we order at Burnish Resto?

The pasta dishes seem to be what Burnish Resto is known for. There was fresh pasta and dried pasta too. We ordered the anchovy bottarga fresh pasta and the cold sweet shrimp pasta.

How does the anchovy bottarga fresh pasta taste?

The anchovy bottarga fresh pasta hits you with saltiness first. I ordered it because of the fish roe, and staff explained that it comes with anchovy, Sardinian bottarga (cured fish roe) and fregola. It has a distinctive savory depth from those ingredients, definitely a different feel from an ordinary cream or tomato pasta.

Seasonal menu: cold sweet shrimp pasta

The cold sweet shrimp pasta we ordered with it is a seasonal menu item, they said. You can't get it once the season passes, so I gave it a try.

Cold pasta with sweet shrimp and avocado

Ta-da! Lots of avocado hiding in there!! It had plenty of sweet shrimp and avocado, and since it's a pasta served cold, it had a different charm from the warm pasta we're used to. It even reminded me a little of cold soba.

Which of the two pastas should you eat first?

A staff member said the cold sweet shrimp pasta has a somewhat stronger flavor, so they recommended trying the anchovy bottarga pasta first. Guiding us on the eating order based on each dish's character is just great.

Because it's a seasonal menu, the lineup may change depending on when you visit, so if you're curious about the cold sweet shrimp pasta, it's best to check whether it's available before you go.

Who would I recommend Burnish Resto to?

Staff explained each dish in detail, so even pasta with unfamiliar ingredients was easy to choose. I recommend it if you're looking for a Western restaurant in Dongin-dong, Daegu. It also seems right for people who love fresh pasta or are searching for a date spot.

Since I actually saw a table holding a wedding-invitation meetup, if you're looking for a place for one in Samdeok-dong, it's worth comparing this one too.
