I'd been craving Western-style food for a while, so I headed over to the Dongin-dong area. There are honestly quite a few good restaurants around here, so I spent ages deciding where to go — and the place I picked this time was Burnish Resto! Unlike the pasta I usually eat, this place makes its own fresh, hand-kneaded pasta dough, so I was extra curious.

What does Burnish Resto look like from outside?

Burnish Resto is a Western-style restaurant on the 1st floor of 42 Gukchaebosang-ro 150-gil, Jung-gu, Daegu, South Korea. Red brick, a deep green accent, and a gold sign — the exterior already gave off strong Western-restaurant vibes. The pretty interior visible through the big glass windows had me excited even before I walked in :)

Inside Burnish Resto: window seats and atmosphere

The moment I walked in, the music coming out of a really good-quality speaker caught my ear.

With the soft lighting added on top, the atmosphere was great too :) As it got darker outside while we ate, the mood leveled up even more 👍

Pre-meal bread and olive oil at Burnish Resto

After ordering, pre-meal bread and olive oil came out first. The outside was baked golden, and dipping it in the olive oil while waiting for the main dishes was great.

Table set with salad, pasta, and gnocchi dishes

All the dishes we ordered had arrived, so let's dig in one by one :) Starting with the napa cabbage salad, which was great for perking up the appetite with its fresh, tangy taste!

Don't just think of it as plain cabbage — you've got to eat it together with the generous toppings piled on top for the real flavor! Even though it's a salad, it had such a strong presence that it felt more like a proper dish than a side.

Bisque fresh pasta, 26,000 won

Bisque fresh pasta topped with plump shrimp. The rich bisque sauce was generously spread underneath, and the visual alone had me hooked 😝 The shrimp were plump and springy, pairing well with the noodles, and above all, being fresh pasta, the texture was noticeably different. Chewier yet softer than regular dried pasta! The sauce was rich too, so coating the noodles generously with it made for a delicious bite :)

Gnocchi bites, 16,000 won

Golden, bite-sized gnocchi close-up

Bite-sized gnocchi, browned golden, served with cream cheese sauce and nuts just as described on the menu. The outside was lightly seared and the inside was chewy, and it went really well with the generous, creamy sauce. Crunching into the nuts here and there added a nutty flavor, and I kept reaching for more, one piece at a time :)

Verdict: is Burnish Resto worth it for fresh pasta in Dongin-dong, Daegu?

True to being a place that uses its own fresh pasta, the noodle texture stuck with me as something different from the pasta I usually eat. The combination of three dishes was satisfying — from the rich-sauced bisque fresh pasta, to the napa cabbage salad that turned out to have more presence than expected, to the chewy, nutty gnocchi bites :) The atmosphere was great too, making it a good spot for a date or a day you want to treat yourself. If you're looking for fresh pasta in Dongin-dong, Daegu, this place is worth a visit.
