What is Jangpro Hanwoo Galbitsal? A native hanwoo specialist on Deuran-gil

Visited September 16, 2026. Jangpro Hanwoo Galbitsal is a hanwoo (Korean native beef) restaurant on the Deuran-gil beef strip at 222 Deuran-ro, A-dong 1st floor, Suseong-gu, Daegu. It's open daily 17:00–22:00, with a private parking lot fully set up behind the building.

I wanted hanwoo beef with doenjang jjigae and rice today, so I went looking along Deuran-gil — where there are tons of hanwoo restaurants — for somewhere that could deliver good value, and found Jangpro Hanwoo Galbitsal. There's a big parking lot behind the shop, so I parked easily and walked in.

Inside the seating area — good for group dinners and family gatherings too?

The interior of Jangpro Hanwoo Galbitsal is really spacious and pleasant — there are no private rooms, but there are lots of long connected tables, so it looked good both for small groups and for bigger gatherings like family get-togethers or a company dinner. We settled into a cozy round table.

Menu and prices — ₩16,000 per 100g of native hanwoo

Menu board highlighting 100% native nureongi hanwoo

Jangpro Hanwoo Galbitsal prides itself on 100% nureongi (native yellow cattle) hanwoo. Nureongi hanwoo definitely has a deeper, savory flavor and beef aroma, so I was looking forward to it.

Menu board with prices for each hanwoo cut

For non-imported, native hanwoo in Suseong-gu, Daegu, the prices here felt almost too low. Isn't this basically pork-price territory? It's a really approachable hanwoo price you could eat any time without a second thought.

Fresh, varied side dishes to eat alongside the beef came out — geotjeori (fresh cabbage kimchi), baek-kimchi (white kimchi), onion jang, and pa-kimchi (scallion kimchi) — along with a special dipping sauce and salt for the beef. Whatever ran low we could freely refill from the self-serve bar, and I went back for seconds on a few of them.

The galbitsal plate: 300g for ₩48,000 — is it enough for two?

Then came our order, the galbitsal plate (300g / ₩48,000). I worried the portion might be small, but thinking about it, 300g is roughly three servings' worth of beef, so it wasn't skimpy at all. We ordered 300g since we planned to eat it with rice, and since we're both light eaters, the galbitsal plate plus doenjang jjigae plus rice together left us feeling like we'd burst.

Plate of hanwoo galbitsal with visible marbling

For just ₩16,000 per 100g, the marbling on this hanwoo is amazing. I didn't expect much going in, but I was genuinely surprised by the color of the meat. Getting such high freshness and quality hanwoo at pork prices — the value here is honestly ridiculous. The galbitsal plate comes with both regular galbitsal and kkot-galbitsal (flower-cut rib meat) together.

How does it taste? A bite of salt, a bite of pa-kimchi

For the first bite, I tried it with just a touch of salt to enjoy the meat's flavor on its own. Maybe because it's native hanwoo, the deep beef aroma and savory taste were excellent. For the second bite, my partner topped a piece with pa-kimchi, and honestly, this place's pa-kimchi is impressive in its own right. The spicy-sweet, sharp pa-kimchi cut right through the slight richness of the hanwoo.

Hanwoo rib doenjang jjigae with a large rib bone

Hanwoo rib doenjang jjigae for ₩5,000, and a ₩50,000-range bill for two

And then the hanwoo rib doenjang jjigae (₩5,000). With a big rib bone commanding attention, this stew was loaded with hanwoo meat and vegetables, slightly spicy yet savory, generous in portion, and genuinely delicious. Between the rice, the doenjang jjigae, and the hanwoo, we ate well and full, and the bill for two came to just over ₩50,000 — this really is a value-for-money hanwoo restaurant, and then some.

Jangpro Hanwoo Galbitsal in Hwanggeum-dong, Suseong-gu, Daegu, is a solid-value hanwoo restaurant where you can enjoy native Korean beef affordably. Parking is easy and the space is spacious, so I'd recommend it for all kinds of gatherings and work dinners. Getting quality hanwoo at pork prices makes this a Deuran-gil hanwoo spot I'd revisit with 200% certainty.
