We took a spontaneous family trip to Hadong last week. It was my first time in Hadong, and I loved the lush nature and relaxed pace so much 🤭 We even visited Hwagae Market, which I'd only ever heard about in a song, but there weren't many menu options the kids could eat, so after some hesitation I found and visited 🍗 Jadam Chicken Hadong Hwagaejangteo, which I'm introducing today 😌

Where is Jadam Chicken Hadong Hwagaejangteo, and what are its hours?

✅ Jadam Chicken Hwagaejangteo is at 4 Ssanggye-ro, Hwagae-myeon, Hadong-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do, and ✔️ it's open daily 12:00–22:00. Head just a little uphill from Hwagae Market and it's right next to Lotte Mart :) Hwagae Market isn't huge, so it wasn't hard to find the store.

What makes Jadam Chicken Hwagaejangteo different: a chicken-frying robot

✔️ What makes Jadam Chicken Hwagaejangteo special is that it's one of fewer than 10 stores nationwide using a chicken-frying robot to cook. Knowing a robot, not a person, fries the chicken at the ideal temperature made me even more excited 🤭

The store had a clean, tidy feel overall, and the owner also sells kkwabaegi (twisted fried doughnuts) from a well-known local vendor, which seemed like a great snack to pick up alongside the chicken 😚 Jadam Chicken, already famous for its eco-friendly, well-being approach, uses Korean antibiotic-free chicken and has used animal-welfare-certified chicken since 2017. As a mom who cares about what ingredients my kids eat, that was a huge plus for me 👍

The weather has cooled down a lot now, and there were plenty of outdoor tables ready for enjoying this kind of weather. Even with a lot of customers at the same time, the tables felt spacious enough.

The frying robot the kids watched for ages

The chicken robot inside the store — we visited with the kids, and they found it so fascinating they stood watching for a long while. Knowing it fries the chicken at the optimal temperature timed perfectly made me even more excited about the food.

While the robot busily fried the chicken and cheese balls, the kids and I stood watching for a long time. It was so fascinating just to watch 😊 It really feels like robots are replacing people for so many things now.

We asked for it packed to go so we could bathe the kids and eat comfortably at our lodging, and they packed the chicken, cheese balls, sauces, salt, and pickled radish neatly together. We carried it straight back to where we were staying.

They included honey mustard sauce and seasoning sauce, plus salt :) Jadam Chicken's pickled radish has a homemade style — unlike other brands' pickled radish, it has a healthier feel, which made it even tastier and a great match for the chicken.

The main event: the chicken. The crispy coating was delicious. Fried chicken is honestly a can't-fail choice. We'd walked all around Hwagae Market and struggled to find anything the kids could eat, so bringing back chicken meant the whole family could enjoy a meal together — such a relief.
