A lot of you love a crispy pork cutlet, right! I paid a visit to Jinsim Wang Donkkaseu Cheomdan, a Cheomdan pork cutlet spot known for its seriously generous wang donkkaseu (giant pork cutlet).

Beyond the big cutlets, there's a whole range of menu items, so you can put together a really filling meal here. For anyone looking for a satisfying, budget-friendly restaurant in Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju, let me walk you through it :)

Where is Jinsim Wang Donkkaseu Cheomdan, and where do you park?
Jinsim Wang Donkkaseu Cheomdan is located near the Cheomdan Lotte Mart. There's no dedicated parking lot, so use the spaces around the store or the alley behind it.

Inside Jinsim Wang Donkkaseu Cheomdan: high chairs and tablet ordering
The interior of Jinsim Wang Donkkaseu Cheomdan was really spacious and clean. There were plenty of tables with generous spacing between them, so it was comfortable to eat.
It seems like a good spot whether you're dining solo or coming as a family :)
On one side there were also high chairs set up separately. Two different kinds were available, so families with young kids can dine here comfortably too.
Once you sit down, there's a tablet installed at every table! You can browse the menu at your own pace and order, and pay right from your seat too, so it's convenient not having to go to the counter.

The tables also had instructions for using the self-serve bar and various other notices written on them. Worth a glance before you dig in ^^

What's on the menu at Jinsim Wang Donkkaseu Cheomdan?
As you'd expect from a Cheomdan pork cutlet favorite, there was a really wide variety of cutlets — basic wang donkkaseu, spicy wang donkkaseu, cheese wang donkkaseu, sweet potato cheese cutlet, fish cutlet, and more. Beyond the cutlets, there were noodle dishes like myeolchi kalguksu (anchovy noodle soup), spicy myeolchi kalguksu, eomuk skewer udon, and bibimmyeon, plus curry rice and bibimbap. There were also couple sets and family sets that let you enjoy several dishes at once, so it was easy to pick something suited to your group size.

Free self-serve bar: lettuce wraps, soup and broth
Jinsim Wang Donkkaseu Cheomdan also has a self-serve bar set up on one side. From side dishes to soup and broth, there's a lot on offer, and you can take as much as you need.
The self-serve bar had lettuce, danmuji (pickled radish), kimchi and ssamjang (dipping paste) — all good pairings for the cutlet.
At Jinsim Wang Donkkaseu Cheomdan you can actually wrap your cutlet in lettuce!! That's why the self-serve bar has fresh lettuce and ssamjang. Just take what suits your taste.

Plates, scissors and tongs were all neatly arranged too,
and of course, no cutlet restaurant is complete without warm soup!! I really love this soft soup they serve before the cutlet comes out haha. With a sprinkle of pepper on top, it's savory and warm and really gets the appetite going.

Besides the soup, there's also warm broth. You can add scallions to your taste, so we grabbed a bowl of that too.
Packing up leftover pork cutlet at the self-packing station
There's also a self-packing station set up next to the self-serve bar. Since the wang donkkaseu portions are so huge, they've set things up so you can pack up any leftovers and take them home. I liked that you don't have to force yourself to finish it all if you're already full :)

We grabbed just enough soup, broth, danmuji and kimchi before the food came out. That first spoonful of warm soup before the cutlet is a must haha — it's genuinely delicious, I'm telling you.

Jinsim Wang Donkkaseu Cheomdan was also running a Naver receipt review event. Write a receipt review and you get a drink worth ₩2,000 — might be worth joining in. You can't skip a fizzy drink with your cutlet, right haha.
Jinsim wang bibimbap: a truly enormous bowl
First up was the Jinsim wang bibimbap!! It was clearly bigger than a regular bibimbap, so the 'wang' (giant) in the name really fits. In a big bowl, rice and a fried egg sat at the center, surrounded generously by bulgogi, bean sprouts, cucumber, roasted seaweed flakes, cabbage, and more.
The bibimbap sauce comes separately, so you can add as much as you like to suit your taste. Rather than dumping it all in at once, it's better to add a little at a time and adjust the seasoning :)
We drizzled the sauce on generously. With so many ingredients packed in, we spread the sauce evenly and got ready to properly mix it all up haha.
Wow... the portion is seriously massive. You can really feel the scale compared to a hand... it truly lives up to being a great-value restaurant in Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju haha.

I took a big bite and could taste the crunchy vegetables, the bean sprouts and the bulgogi all at once — really delicious. Mixed in with the fried egg it was savory, and with so many varied ingredients, every bite felt satisfying and hearty.

Jinsim kimchi udon, and how it pairs with the pork cutlet
Next up was the Jinsim kimchi udon. Piled generously with kimchi, fish cake, scallions and fried batter bits over a red broth, it looked spicy just from the visuals. Having a hot soup dish to go alongside the wang donkkaseu was a nice combination.

Taking a sip of the spicy kimchi udon broth between bites of cutlet felt like it reset your palate completely! Ordering the cutlet and kimchi udon together turned out to be a good choice haha.

And at the restaurant, a serving robot brings your order right to the table. We could see our wang donkkaseu approaching from a distance, and just from the size of the plate you could tell it was going to be something else haha.

Jinsim wang donkkaseu with the sauce on the side
Finally, today's main event, the Jinsim wang donkkaseu, has arrived!! Can you get a sense of the size even from the photo haha. On a huge plate sat an enormous cutlet, served together with rice, salad and corn.

You can choose whether the sauce comes poured over or on the side for dipping when you order. I'm firmly on Team Dipping since I love a crispy texture, so I asked for the sauce separately haha.

I cut the cutlet into bite-sized pieces. Even while cutting, the coating shattered with a crisp crunch — you could tell just by looking how crispy it was!
Picking up a piece, the outer coating was properly crispy while the meat inside was thick and juicy. This wasn't one of those cutlets that's mostly coating — the ratio between meat and breading was just right!!
And since I'm Team Dipping haha, I dipped a piece deep into the sauce and took a bite. The crispy coating, the tender meat, and the sweet, rich cutlet sauce all together made for a familiar yet delicious combination, ugh so good. Ordering the sauce separately was definitely the right call — I got to enjoy that crisp texture all the way to the end :)
