Late-evening pork cutlet dinner in Dongtan Mokdong: Kkot Gatsu
In short
Kkot Gatsu Dongtan Main Branch is a pork cutlet (donkatsu) restaurant in the Mokdong residential area of Dongtan, Hwaseong, Gyeonggi. Arriving late in the evening with no wait, the writer ordered the cheese-and-tenderloin cutlet (chi-kkot katsu) and the top loin cutlet set with hwa-udon, adding truffle oil and dried radish from the self-serve corner so the cheese cutlet, tenderloin and top loin all stayed tender. Apart from the hwa-udon broth tasting closer to yukgaejang (spicy beef soup) than udon, Kkot Gatsu is worth a return trip for pork cutlets in Dongtan.

I found Kkot Gatsu while searching for good pork cutlet spots in Dongtan, and got a nice opportunity to visit. The cutlets were tasty across the board, so I think I'll be back here again.

Where is Kkot Gatsu Dongtan Main Branch, and where do you park?

Kkot Gatsu Dongtan Main Branch sits near the central residential area of Mokdong in Dongtan, and it was nice to walk around the nearby park after finishing the meal.
Parking is available along the roadside in front of the restaurant, and there are about 3 spaces inside the building. If those are full, the Mokdong public parking lot offers 90 minutes free, so keep that in mind.

Late-evening visit: was there a wait at Kkot Gatsu?
Walking into Kkot Gatsu Dongtan Main Branch, the first thing you see is the waiting area, but since I visited late in the evening, I didn't have to wait at all.
Inside, there are about 10 tables of 2- and 4-seaters, and the wood tones with yellow lighting made for a comfortable overall atmosphere.

Kkot Gatsu menu and what we ordered
The menu has a wide range — pork cutlet, soba, udon, curry — plus set menus. There are also several sets that let you try two kinds of cutlets together, like loin and tenderloin, so it was fun to choose.
We ordered two dishes: the top loin cutlet set with hwa-udon, and the cheese cutlet (Chi-kkot Katsu).

Each table has paper cups and a menu ready, and once you sit down, they bring you water too.

What's in the self-serve sauce corner at Kkot Gatsu?
Kkot Gatsu's self-serve corner is well stocked too, with lemon sauce, wasabi, cumin, truffle oil, and more dipping sauces to choose from. There are also self-packing containers, so you can pack up leftovers yourself. I didn't have anything left over, but I think it'd be handy for anyone with a smaller appetite or who ends up with extra.
The basic setup comes with wasabi, salt, and pork cutlet sauce, but I also grabbed dried radish and truffle oil sauce from the self-serve corner. The cabbage was sliced really thin too, which made it easy to eat alongside the cutlet.
Chi-kkot katsu: cheese cutlet and tenderloin on one plate
The Chi-kkot Katsu lets you enjoy cheese cutlet and tenderloin together. It was packed with mozzarella cheese, and the savoriness really came through on the first bite. Dipping it in salt brought out the cheese's nutty flavor along with a deeper umami — it was delicious.

The tenderloin's juiciness didn't quite come through in the photos, but it was genuinely tender. No toughness or dryness at all, just soft and moist. Dipping it in truffle oil with a touch of wasabi added truffle aroma and a bit of wasabi kick, making it deliciously different.

Top loin cutlet set: hwa-udon broth tastes more like yukgaejang
The top loin cutlet looked great visually too, served in a hearty full spread that looked filling just to look at. Getting to eat cutlet and udon together made for a satisfying single meal.

The spicy hwa-udon tasted more like yukgaejang (spicy beef and vegetable soup) than a typical udon broth. The noodles were chewy and delicious, and the broth had a nice spicy kick too. Just keep in mind that instead of the usual udon-style spiciness, it's closer to a yukgaejang base.

Honestly, when I first saw the top loin cutlet, the bottom part looked a bit dry, but it turned out way more tender than I expected. It was good on cabbage too, and it paired well with the dipping sauce. Once things started feeling a bit rich, the dried radish cut through the greasiness nicely, so I just kept eating.

Candy at the register and the receipt review perk
The pork cutlets at Kkot Gatsu Dongtan Main Branch were all satisfying overall, and there was candy at the register, so I grabbed a piece and enjoyed it while walking around the neighborhood.

Apparently if you write a Naver receipt review, you can get cheese balls or beer. If you didn't drive, a beer alongside your cutlet sounds like a good idea.
For anyone looking for pork cutlets in Dongtan, this is a place worth trying at least once. From the cheese cutlet to the tenderloin and top loin, the meat was tender and tasty across the board, and the variety of sauces made it easy to eat to your own taste.
