Crispy shomai and tendon pho at a Dongtan Station pho spot: Mibundang

Today I went to lunch with my friend at Mibundang, a pho restaurant near Dongtan Station that I'd been wanting to try. The full name is Mibundang Dongtan Station Branch ღ This was a sponsored visit, but here's my honest, genuinely satisfied review.

Mibundang has a kiosk outside, so we ordered ahead and were then shown to our seats.

The main event at this Dongtan pho restaurant is, of course, the pho! I ordered brisket pho, tendon pho, an assorted fried platter, and some drinks.

Bar seating that makes solo dining easy

If you ever want a quiet, clean spot for a bowl of pho, Mibundang is worth seeking out. What stood out to me was the bar-style seating, unlike most pho places — you sit side by side, focused on your food, which makes it perfect for solo diners or small groups who want a quiet meal. (Very much my style!)

The whole atmosphere was so clean it almost felt like stepping into a Japanese restaurant.

There was even a note explaining that the owner created this space so anyone could eat in a quiet, comfortable setting.

Sauces and side dishes set at every seat

Personal sauces sat on a little shelf above each seat. The hot chili sauce was seriously spicy!

Mibundang's side dishes are pickled radish, pickled onion, and pickled chili. The pickled onion was cut thicker than usual, so it had an extra crunchy texture — I loved that.

How do the brisket pho and tendon pho taste?

The broth is the real star here — rich but never heavy, and warm enough that each spoonful just makes you want another. It's the kind of broth you keep thinking about afterward.

This tendon pho was the dish I'd been most looking forward to. It comes topped with scallions and chili, so if you don't like chili, it's worth asking them to leave it off. Piled high with beef and tendon, it looked incredibly hearty just to look at.

This is the tendon itself — chewy and fun to eat, with a really interesting texture. Between the broth and the perfectly cooked, springy noodles, every bite was a joy.

Can you ask for light cilantro at Mibundang?

I'm not exactly a cilantro connoisseur, but I do like a light touch that just barely scents the broth. So I asked for it mild, and it wasn't overpowering at all — totally enjoyable. My friend, who actually loves cilantro, said she was already craving it again.

There's also an open kitchen where you can watch the cooking process, and everything looked immaculately managed — consistent and orderly from start to finish. It gave me a lot of confidence in the hygiene here. So shiny and spotless!

The colors on the plate worked together beautifully, making it a great side to order with pho. If there are two of you, I'd definitely recommend sharing one of these.
