Yuseong restaurant for green citrus soba: Gatjidong Noeun Branch

I was in the Yuseong area for the first time in a while and remembered a place where I had eaten really well before, so I finally came back after ages. Now that the weather is getting hot, it is that time when I keep craving cool, lighter food rather than warm dishes, right? So this time, I ordered three things: a Western-style pork cutlet, vongole pasta, and Jeju green citrus buckwheat soba, perfect for summer.

The atmosphere at Gatjidong Noeun Branch

When I stepped inside, it felt neat and warm. The walls had a vintage brick look, while wooden tables and chairs throughout gave it a comfortable, cozy feel. The soft lighting made the atmosphere even nicer. The tables were not too close together either, so it looked like a good place to visit with children.

And here is one more perk! You can help yourself to soup, clear soup, and rice for free. When you come to a Western-style pork cutlet place, you cannot leave out a warm soup before the meal, can you? I liked being able to take as much as I needed without any pressure.

A glass of beer for ₩990?!

It had been a while since my last visit, but at that price, there was no reason not to order it. A cold glass of beer on a hot day is just right alongside pork cutlet and pasta, so I ordered one straight away.

Thick, crispy Western-style pork cutlet

I started with the Western-style pork cutlet. The generously sized cutlet came with plenty of sauce on top, and it looked mouthwatering just sitting there. The crispy fried coating went beautifully with the sweet, familiar Korean Western-style sauce.

Although it is Western-style pork cutlet, it was not thin at all—it was quite thick. The sauce soaked nicely into the crisp coating and tender meat, making it great with rice too. Eating it with the cabbage salad on the side cut through the richness, so I kept reaching for more! The sauce was not aggressively sweet either; it naturally suited the cutlet, which also made it a great beer snack.

Vongole cream pasta loaded with clams

As you can see in the photos, the vongole cream pasta had plenty of clams, making it look appetizing from the start. The creamy sauce coated the noodles well, while the savoriness from the clams added a rich, lightly salty flavor. It felt a little different from typical oil-based vongole—softer and richer—so it would be nice to share with children too. It was fun picking out the clams one by one, and every forkful of sauce-coated pasta was full of rich flavor. While the pork cutlet was crispy and bold, the vongole pasta was soft and creamy, so ordering the two together made for a pairing with two distinct charms.

Jeju green citrus buckwheat soba for hot days

And the dish I was most looking forward to that day: Jeju green citrus buckwheat soba (chilled buckwheat noodles)! On hot days, cool dishes like this are always the first thing that come to mind. Several slices of green citrus sat on top of the soba, and it looked wonderfully refreshing. The bright fragrance of green citrus blended into the broth for an overall clean, chilled taste. In particular, the mild character of the buckwheat noodles worked so well with the tangy green citrus flavor.

There is even a prize-draw event when you write a review! It had been a long time since I came back, but it was still an easy, comfortable place for a meal, and I would like to try other dishes next time. It is a Yuseong restaurant worth stopping by if you enjoy pork cutlets, or if you want pasta and cool noodle dishes together. Especially if, like me, you absolutely crave cool food on hot days, I really recommend trying the Jeju green citrus buckwheat soba at least once. It is great for a family meal, and also for visiting with friends or a partner, ordering several dishes, and sharing them! I was so happy to be back at Gatjidong Noeun Branch after such a long time, and I am already wondering what I should try next.
