In short

Geurimseu Cafe is a spacious bakery and brunch café in Cheonan, Chungnam. I tried basil cream pasta, castella cream bread, and drinks, then looked around its roomy indoor seating and terrace. Verdict: I’d love to come back for coffee outdoors on a cool day.

While traveling in Cheonan, I was wondering which café to go to when I found this big café with lots of bakery items and a spacious interior. I heard Geurimseu Cafe sells all kinds of breads as well as brunch dishes, so I went straight over haha.

There’s a pool at the entrance, plus pretty potted plants, so it had such a lovely Instagram-worthy vibe haha. I think this would be a great spot for photos, too.

Spacious interior and plant décor

The inside is incredibly spacious, as you’d expect from a large Cheonan café. It was a weekend and there were lots of customers, but there were still plenty of seats haha.

The décor is clean and modern overall, with lush green plants here and there as lovely accents haha. The atmosphere is so nice that it would be perfect for a date in Cheonan, too.

There were also lots of little decorative items, so it was fun just looking around at them haha.

Brunch and bakery menu

Geurimseu Cafe has brunch dishes as well as café drinks, so you can enjoy both coffee and a meal haha. The brunch menu was as varied as a decent restaurant’s, and I wanted to try everything ㅠ.

After debating for a while, we ordered basil cream pasta (₩18,900), an Americano (₩6,000), and two omija teas (₩6,500)!

By the way, they also run a brunch drink discount, a discount for university students in the local area, and a review event, so take a close look and get those discounts and extras haha.

What was so interesting was that they had vegan dog cookies, so I think anyone with a pet dog might want to pick some up 🐶‼️

Geurimseu Cafe also has a wide range of bakery items, and the cakes looked incredibly delicious too ㅠ. There were lots of kinds of bread, but I couldn’t photograph them because there were customers around.

Scenic terrace and outdoor seating

After ordering, we went up to look around the terrace, and the view was amazing! It was still too hot to sit out there, but I think having a cup of coffee on the terrace in the cool spring or fall weather would be perfect.

There was such an abundance of outdoor seating that I really want to come back and sit outside when the weather is cooler!! The outdoor seats have a wonderful atmosphere too.

Basil cream pasta and castella cream bread

Here are the basil cream pasta (₩18,900), Americano (₩6,000), and omija tea (₩6,500) we ordered. We wanted bread too, so we added a castella cream bread haha.

Wow, can you see how good this looks? It’s a café, but it came out with the quality of a real Western-food specialty restaurant..!! 🫢

I’ve been really into basil lately, so I ordered the basil cream pasta. Its distinctive fragrant aroma came through gently and blended so well with the cream—it was absolutely delicious!

The basil flavor isn’t so strong that it takes over your whole mouth; it blends with the rich cream sauce, making it easy and enjoyable to eat.

There were four plump shrimp, and their savory saltiness went really well with the pasta!

The noodles were coated beautifully in the sauce, so every bite had that thick, creamy texture, with a little basil fragrance coming through at the end—I just kept reaching for more 😋 Especially with basil cream pasta, a sauce that is too thin can feel separate from the noodles, but this sauce clung right to them, which I loved. Anyone who likes basil will definitely enjoy this!

And then I tried the castella cream bread we ordered with it. The bread retained castella’s signature fluffy, soft feel, and the outside was dusted with castella crumbs, so it looked soft and pillowy just from looking at it 🤤

When you take a bite, the castella is fluffy with a moist chew. You first get a subtle sweetness from the castella crumbs on the outside, then the soft cream joins in, making the whole thing sweet and smooth. The castella itself wasn’t too dry, and eaten with the cream, it didn’t feel at all like it would stick in your throat haha. It would go especially well with coffee, so I think it’s a great dessert to order after a meal 💗

Americano and omija tea

The Americano was nutty with no acidity, so it paired wonderfully with both the dessert and pasta. The omija tea was on the mild side, so I think people who don’t like overly sweet drinks would enjoy it.
