Cheonan café with a windmill rooftop for a family brunch: Siyudang

The weather has been absolutely fantastic every weekend lately, and it kept making me want to take off somewhere on a whim. As it happened, my husband coolly gifted me a special little free-wife pass, so I set out for an outing with a light heart. Instead of my usual two-year-old son, who is normally glued to my side, and my husband, I left them at home for a bit and headed out with my sibling and their spouse, plus my two adorable little nieces, aged 30 months and 13 months. We were looking for somewhere easy to visit with children that would properly win over the adults' taste buds too, so we made our way to Siyudang, the Cheonan brunch café everyone says is hot in Yuryang-dong.

We arrived at around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, right in peak time! Maybe because it was prime weekend time, but there were quite a lot of cars in the parking lot and the place was bustling with customers. I worried that we might not find a seat, but the building itself is so large that tables turned over quickly. The interior was also wonderfully spacious, so thankfully our family found a comfortable table in no time.

A spacious interior and rooftop that are easy to navigate with children

Once we had settled in and slowly looked around, I immediately understood why this place gets so much word-of-mouth as a Cheonan spot to visit with kids. There is a well-equipped elevator inside the building, so getting around is truly easy whether you bring a stroller or little babies.

The tables were nicely spaced too, so we could stay comfortably with my 13- and 30-month-old nieces without worrying about the people around us. There was such a wide range of visitors, from couples on dates to big families who had brought their parents, but it had the kind of warm, pleasant atmosphere that people of all ages are bound to enjoy. And if you come to Siyudang, you absolutely have to go up to the rooftop at the very top!

Under the blue sky, lush green mountain views stretched out refreshingly before us, and the huge windmill standing like something from a picture right in the middle immediately caught my eye. It had such an exotic feel, and taking photos in the natural light gave us those once-in-a-lifetime shots.

Thanks to the clear weather, the windmill looked even prettier, and my little nieces seemed fascinated too, happily pointing at it again and again.

Shrimp open sandwich and bakery treats

After looking around the rooftop, it was finally time for the menu we had been waiting for. The display case was full of tempting breads, so after deliberating for quite a while, we ordered a nice mix of sandwiches, sweet desserts, and drinks.

Fresh vegetables and plump, generously piled shrimp sat on top of crisp, simply toasted bread. The moment I took a bite, the springy texture of the shrimp and the savory house sauce came together so appealingly. The ingredients tasted wonderfully fresh in every bite, making it a thoroughly worthy brunch main.

Palmier and classic egg tart

The crisp, layered pastry was generously coated in rich, sweet chocolate. The deep buttery flavor and the slightly bitter yet sweet chocolate were a perfect match; as we snapped off piece after piece, we had polished it all off before we knew it~

The classic egg tart was the very definition of crisp outside and soft inside: its exterior was crunchy while the custard cream within melted smoothly like pudding. It was nutty and moist with none of that eggy smell, a flavor that people of every age could enjoy without hesitation.

The substantial yet chewy financier batter was studded with sweet figs that gave a little pop when bitten and lightly salty cream cheese, so it was wonderfully fun to eat with a really excellent balance of flavors.

The strawberry latte, full of sweet strawberry pieces to chew on, was a perfect match for anyone who loves sweet drinks! The iced Americano had a nutty yet clean body that paired perfectly with all the sweet bakery treats.

A relaxed weekend outing despite the busy Sunday afternoon

Even though we visited at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, the busiest time of all, Siyudang was a Cheonan brunch café where we could still leisurely savor the relaxed feeling of the weekend. As we ate delicious brunch and desserts while taking in the wonderful windmill view, I naturally thought of my husband and two-year-old, who had gifted me that precious free-wife time at home. The space is large, stroller access is easy, and there is plenty to see with the rooftop windmill, so I am already planning to come back soon for a weekend drive, hand in hand with my husband and with our little one in tow. If you want to take lovely photos amid natural scenery and recharge with delicious food, I think Siyudang would be such a nice Cheonan café to visit with children!
