Samseong Station Indian lunch set with prawn chilli: India The Durbar
In short
India The Durbar Samseong Station Branch is an Indian restaurant on the basement floor of 15 Samseong-ro 84-gil in Gangnam, Seoul, where chefs from India cook the curries. For lunch, two of us ordered the India The Durbar Set B (₩45,000) — butter chicken makhani, palak paneer, boneless tandoori chicken, naan and lassi — then added prawn chilli (₩18,000) and garlic butter naan (₩4,000). The spicing at India The Durbar is gentle, so it works even for anyone who usually finds Indian food too strong.

I had lunch at a traditional curry restaurant near Samseong Station where Indian chefs do the cooking! Let me introduce this Indian restaurant that keeps the authentic flavors while still suiting Korean palates, without being intimidating.

Finding the basement entrance and the dining room inside

Here's the entrance to India The Durbar. The red and yellow really catch your eye!
✔️ Takeout is also available!
Such flashy lamps!! These decorations really bring out the Indian feel~!!

A clean, tidy interior

Fork and spoon on either side of the tissues, plus shiny copper-colored cups — the table setting is well done!
India The Durbar menu and lunch set prices

A reasonably priced set menu board — lunch set from 11:00 to 14:00, special set, and set menus.
The lunch set especially is a great deal at ₩30,000–36,000 for two — salad, chicken, two curries, rice, naan, and a drink all included!!! The 1-person set is also just ₩15,000–18,000 for rice, naan, curry, lassi (drink) + (2 pieces of chicken) — very reasonable!

On the left, the à la carte menu board — appetizers, salad, soup; on the right, tandoori and dessert. There are lots of tandoori options too!

The à la carte curry menu — so many kinds of curry!! Chicken curry / vegetable curry, lamb curry / prawn curry, 16 varieties total!
The naan (traditional bread) and rice menu — 10 kinds of naan and 3 kinds of rice!
I need to study the menu! Hahaha

The fried rice, pasta, fried noodles, and drinks/alcohol menu board
What we ordered: Set B for two plus prawn chilli and garlic butter naan
- ✔️ India The Durbar Set B (for 2) ₩45,000 — green salad, boneless tandoori chicken, 2 curries (palak paneer spinach curry / butter chicken makhani), naan, rice, 2 lassis
- ✔️ Prawn chilli ₩18,000
- ✔️ Garlic butter naan ₩4,000
The green salad looks refreshing just to look at — the texture is light and easy to eat.
The two lassis, a tasty yogurt drink, come out first. Lassi tastes better than I expected!!

Boneless tandoori chicken — marinated in spices for a full day, so it's really tender!
The curries are set over a small candle so they don't go cold.

The popular butter chicken makhani — a tomato-based, cream-added curry with mild spice, and big chunks of chicken! It's an unintimidating flavor, which is why it's such a popular curry!!

Palak paneer spinach curry — a vegetable curry flavored with spinach and Indian-style cottage cheese! Also nutty and reliably tasty!

Such a big naan!

The naan comes cut into easy-to-eat pieces and pairs so well with the curry! A little rice comes with it too! That's the set menu — the portions and variety are generous!

A quick look at the pretty lamps for a change of mood ▫️▪️▫️ ✅ Now let me introduce the extra items we ordered~!

Prawn chilli — shrimp marinated in herbs and cream sauce, stir-fried with chilli sauce. It's even better piping hot. Since the shrimp is marinated in cream sauce, the texture is softer than the usual chilli shrimp.

The extra garlic butter naan we ordered has a much prettier color than regular naan~ It's slightly salty and moist, making it even tastier than the regular version! You should try it😽
Is India The Durbar worth it for mild curry?
- Traditional curry by an Indian chef
- A wide variety of menu items
- Corkage for any drink, unlimited bottles (₩5,000 per bottle)

The Indian chef has really nailed Korean tastes too! There were so many dishes that looked delicious, and every curry I tried was easy to enjoy without feeling heavy. The spice isn't strong, so it's easy to eat! Everything tasted great overall!! There were so many menu items I agonized over what to order,
but honestly, whatever you get is delicious, so just go with what catches your eye🤭
PS. A flavor that even won over a Korean uncle's palate (I'm one of those basic-taste uncles myself haha)! Thanks for the meal!! Namaste!!
