Korean restaurant in Dalseo, Daegu for cheonggukjang seafood stew

In short

Sin Yeongung Cheonggukjang Haemulttukbaegi Seongseo Moda Outlet branch is a Korean restaurant near Moda Outlet in Dalseo, Daegu. The three of us ordered three seafood-filled earthenware stews and a seafood chive pancake; I especially liked the cheonggukjang stew and partitioned seating, while my daughter enjoyed her soft tofu stew.

I revisited Sin Yeongung Cheonggukjang Haemulttukbaegi Seongseo Moda Outlet branch after stopping by following a shopping trip at Moda Outlet. I came back because I liked being able to have cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew) and seafood together in one bowl.

Is it easy to reach from Moda Outlet? What about parking?

The restaurant is on the first floor at 27 Seongseogongdan-ro 15-gil, Dalseo-gu, Daegu. It is not far from Moda Outlet, so walking over after shopping was manageable. The original post lists hours of 10:00–22:00, with a break time from 15:30 to 17:00. It also says there is no regular closing day.

There was a large parking lot behind the restaurant, making it convenient to park when visiting by car. One hour of parking was free with restaurant use, and the posted rate was ₩100 per 10 minutes, up to ₩2,000 per day.

There are entrances at both the front and back of the restaurant, and there were also spaces for a few cars at the front.

Are there seats for solo diners or groups?

Each table had partitions, so I could eat comfortably with my companions. I liked this more than when I visited last year, before the renovation. There were also tables for one or two people and rooms, so it looked suitable for dining alone or gathering as a group.

What did the three of us order?

Using the kiosk, we ordered one each of cheonggukjang seafood ttukbaegi (earthenware stew), live abalone seafood ttukbaegi, and seafood sundubu ttukbaegi (soft tofu stew). We also added seafood buchu pajeon (chive pancake) to share.

There were also haemul-jjim (braised seafood) and seafood one-pan boiling options for gatherings. We did not order them this time, but I would like to try them next time.

The side dishes were salad, peppers dressed with doenjang, fish cake, and seokbakji (cubed radish kimchi). It was convenient to get more side dishes from the separate self-service corner.

What was in the cheonggukjang seafood ttukbaegi?

It was nice that all three ttukbaegi dishes we ordered arrived at once.

The cheonggukjang seafood ttukbaegi had a generous amount of cheonggukjang, introduced as being made with Korean-grown soybeans. It felt substantial with shrimp, blue crab, fish, and shellfish including mussels.

What can you have if cheonggukjang does not appeal?

My daughter said she wanted soft tofu and chose the seafood sundubu ttukbaegi. This dish also had plenty of seafood, and she said the savory soft tofu was delicious. It seemed like another option for companions who do not feel like cheonggukjang.

How was the seafood chive pajeon we ordered to share?

The seafood chive pajeon had shrimp in its egg batter. One bite made me think of makgeolli (Korean rice wine).

I was satisfied with this meal. Next time, I would like to order the braised seafood and pancake with makgeolli.
