25-room hotel-style pension on Seonjae-do for family trips: Luna Beach

On a recent family trip to Seonjae-do, we stayed one night at Luna Beach Seonjae Hotel & Pension, so let me introduce it :)

We visited without our dog, but Luna Beach Seonjae itself allows dogs, so I'll include that info too for anyone looking into dog-friendly stays on Seonjae-do.

With the pool, spa and barbecue area all in one place, it was easy to spend a whole day without leaving the property, and the ocean view from the room stuck with me :)

What the ocean view from a Luna Beach Seonjae room looks like

The first thing that caught my eye walking into the room was the view. The West Sea stretched out beyond the floor-to-ceiling windows, with the mudflats and a small island visible at once — it felt like a real getaway the moment we walked in.

It was also nice being able to watch the West Sea's tides change from the comfort of the room. Luna Beach Seonjae isn't a standalone cottage — it's a hotel-style Seonjae-do pension with 25 rooms in one building. There's an elevator too, which made moving around with luggage as a family much easier.

Inside the spa room: layout, tub and kitchen

The room had a bed, sofa, table, kitchen and more, with plenty of space. There was a spa by the window where you could relax while looking out at the view.

There was also a kitchen and dishware, so it looked convenient for making simple food or having a second round of drinks after barbecue.

Spa rooms are standard for 2 people, but some rooms hold up to 6, so if you're visiting with family or friends, it's worth checking the capacity of the room you're booking beforehand.

Is the dog pool separate from the regular pool?

Luna Beach Seonjae has a separate pool for people and a separate dog pool for dogs. If you're visiting in summer, the pool is a must.

The regular pool was bigger than I expected and fairly deep, so it looked great for a family to properly swim and play in the water.

We didn't bring our dog this time, but there's a separate dog run and dog pool, which seems like a pretty important point for anyone looking for dog-friendly stays on Seonjae-do.

Small, medium and large dogs are all welcome, and according to the signage, some rooms allow dogs up to 30kg, excluding aggressive breeds or dogs known to bite.

Conditions may differ by room, so if you're visiting with a dog, it's best to check whether dogs are allowed and any extra fees before booking.

📍 One-line note — Even as a family trip without a dog, there was plenty to enjoy between the pool, spa and barbecue.

Barbecue hours and charcoal fees at Luna Beach Seonjae

The barbecue area at Luna Beach Seonjae is outdoors, open from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Charcoal use is ₩20,000 for 2 people, ₩5,000 for each extra person, and ₩10,000 for extra charcoal.

We used the barbecue area too. There were several tables, so it was easy for the family to sit around and grill meat together. Grilling meat ourselves really made it feel like a proper pension trip haha

Also note that after using the barbecue area, you need to wash and return the dishware and utensils yourself, and sort food waste and trash for disposal.

First-floor shop: opening hours and what it sells

A sign showed the first-floor convenience store at Luna Beach Seonjae is open from 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM. When you're prepping for barbecue at a pension, there's always something you forget to bring. That's when this store comes in handy.

It had bottled water, soda, sports drinks, instant noodles, packaged rice, snacks and other items good for eating at a pension, all laid out. Being able to buy what you need inside the building without heading back out is surprisingly convenient on a family trip.

Indoor facilities: screen sports, pool table and karaoke

Besides the pool and spa, Luna Beach Seonjae has indoor facilities to use too. There's a spacious indoor area with several tables and chairs, and a screen, projector and sound system set up at the front.

The space fits a group, so it looked good for families or larger parties. There's also a pool table and karaoke on one side, which was nice — having somewhere to spend time indoors without going outside.

Outdoors, there's a run for dogs to play in and a separate dog pool. That makes it a solid setup for anyone looking for a dog-friendly stay on Seonjae-do who also wants water facilities.

If you're visiting with a dog, bring waste bags, bowls and other dog supplies in advance, and double-check facility availability and rules with the pension.

How Luna Beach Seonjae worked for a family trip

Luna Beach Seonjae is a good option to check out for anyone who started out looking at Daebudo pensions and widened their search to Seonjae-do.

Even without our dog, we swam in the regular pool, watched the sea from the room, and had barbecue in the evening — it made for a full, satisfying day.

On the flip side, if you travel with a dog, being able to use the dog pool and dog run is a real perk of this Seonjae-do dog-friendly stay. Also worth knowing before booking: it's not a standalone cottage but a hotel-style Seonjae-do pension with multiple rooms.

If you're looking for a Daebudo pension or Seonjae-do stay where the family can relax with pool, spa and barbecue all in one place, this one is worth comparing :)
