Insaeng Geukjang is located near Ssangmun Station Exit 2 — come up the exit and you'll see a pharmacy straight ahead. To the left of the pharmacy is the market alley, so go straight into that alley! Keep going and you'll hit an intersection with a gopchang restaurant, and if you continue just a bit further you'll see an obongjip, a hoe (raw fish) restaurant, and a nogari (dried pollack) place — right next to those is Insaeng Geukjang! (I'll attach the exact location info at the bottom of this post ♡)

The menu at Insaeng Geukjang near Ssangmun Station includes soy sauce pork ribs and spicy pork ribs, plus pork king ribs, raw pork belly, and beef makchang! There were so many delicious extra menu items too — cartilage rice balls, flying fish roe rice balls, naengmyeon (cold noodles), muksabal (acorn jelly with noodles), beef brisket doenjang rice, beef brisket doenjang stew, egg custard, and cheese. The drink selection is huge too — soju, beer, Cheongha, Maehwasu, wild ginseng liquor, bokbunja wine, Bohae bokbunja, and makgeolli. Such a great variety at this Ssangmun favorite!!

Spoons and wet wipes set out in envelopes

They had wet wipes neatly set out, and spoons and chopsticks hygienically packed in envelopes. That attention to hygiene really stood out, good!!

What about the side dishes?

Next came the side dishes — acorn jelly, crunchy pepper muchim, green onion kimchi, white kimchi, salad, cold vegetable salad, and pickled onions. Every single side dish was so tasty and neatly presented. Wow, so impressive!

Cheese egg custard and flying fish roe rice balls

Before the main menu even arrives!! The savory egg custard and flying fish roe rice balls make their entrance~!~! The egg custard had cheese in it, adding even more richness, and the seasoning was just right so it went down smooth. The flying fish roe rice balls were bursting with savory flavor too~!

Seasoned and spicy pork ribs come pre-grilled

Finally, the main event — the pork ribs — arrived. I ordered both seasoned pork ribs and spicy pork ribs, and just the portion size got me excited. They come pre-grilled first, so they arrived faster than at other places, and cooking them the rest of the way on the grill was quick too. I dug in right away and the seasoning had soaked in so well — absolutely delicious. I'll definitely come back to try the seasoned ribs, pork belly, and makchang and leave a review! Great for company dinners, family outings, gatherings, daytime drinks, or dinner — this pork rib spot, this meat restaurant, this Ssangmun favorite Insaeng Geukjang is the best!
