For anyone looking for a hearty agujjim spot in Mojong-dong, here's my review of Sinseong Agujjim Asan Branch, a place that's serious about portions :)

Where is Sinseong Agujjim, near Asan Intercity Bus Terminal?

Sinseong Agujjim Asan Branch sits near both the Asan Intercity Bus Terminal and the Asan Express Bus Terminal, so it's a solid option when you're looking for a place to eat right by the terminals.

🚗 Parking at Sinseong Agujjim

There's a public parking lot nearby, but when I visited, staff directed me to park along the street near the restaurant. If you're driving to this Mojong-dong spot, it's worth checking the available roadside space around the store. There's also the Asan Intercity Bus Terminal parking lot nearby, for reference!

What the Mojong-dong dining room feels like: old-school meets chain

My first impression of the exterior was somewhere between an old-school neighborhood joint and a branded chain store...? haha

It has that old neighborhood restaurant feel while still being tidy and clean, which made it easy to walk in comfortably.

The interior isn't huge, but it doesn't feel cramped either. I visited on a Friday morning, there was no wait, and the place had a moderate number of customers.

Sinseong Agujjim menu and spice levels

Sinseong's agujjim prices were

• Small ₩31,000
• Medium ₩40,000
• Large ₩49,000

Besides agujjim, there was a wide range of menu items — seafood jjim, boneless agujjim, monkfish clear soup, algonijjim (monkfish with roe and milt), and you could order fried rice after the meal. We ordered the small agujjim.

Dine-in size-up promotion: small agujjim served as medium

Thanks to an ongoing dine-in promotion, even though we ordered small, it got upsized to medium!!!! (important) When I asked the owner, they said the promotion is running indefinitely for now. Haha, that felt like a pretty solid perk even for people who eat a lot(!).

You could choose your spice level.

• Level 1: comfortable, mild
• Level 2: subtly spicy
• Level 3: numbing spice
• Anything above that is for the true spice lovers!

We went with level 1, and even for me — someone who can handle Buldak spicy noodles — it was spicier than expected, so keep that in mind!

Side dishes that matched the spicy agujjim

Basic side dishes came out too, and personally the one that paired best with the agujjim was the seaweed soup.

The main dish matters most at a good agujjim place, of course, but it was nice to have something to cool down the spice.

There were also several other side dishes like salad and baek-kimchi (non-spicy white kimchi), good for picking at between bites haha

Kids' pork cutlet (7,000 won)

I also ordered the kids' pork cutlet for ₩7,000 to eat alongside the agujjim — it's called a kids' dish, but I'm the actual adult who ordered it to pair with the stew, haha. The taste itself was your standard, safe pork cutlet flavor, which made it good to alternate with bites of the spicy agujjim.

Especially since dishes like agujjim or seafood jjim can be tough for kids to eat, having a separate kids' menu is a plus for family visits. Seems like a good option for anyone looking for a restaurant near Asan Terminal or in Mojong-dong that works well with kids too, haha.

How big is the agujjim portion in Mojong-dong?

Finally, the main event — agujjim! (small size, ₩31,000) But now upgraded to medium!!!! Even accounting for the size-up, the portion felt substantial from the moment it arrived!

It would be plenty for 3 people, and personally I think it could work for 4 people sharing too.

There was plenty of monkfish, not just bean sprouts, and the meat was plump and tender, making it easy to eat. Above all, the sauce itself was really good. It was spicy with a savory depth, the kind of flavor that naturally makes you crave a bowl of white rice.

The portion relative to price was generous, so it should suit anyone looking for a hearty restaurant in Mojong-dong.

Final verdict on Sinseong Agujjim in Mojong-dong, Asan

The portion was so generous we couldn't finish it all and ended up packing the leftovers to go, haha. I wanted to try the fried rice too, but after the agujjim and the kids' pork cutlet, there was no more room...

What stood out most at Sinseong Agujjim Asan Branch was the owner's kindness! They checked in midway through the meal to ask if the food suited our taste, and even kept an eye on how much we'd eaten, haha — really thoughtful care. If you're looking for a restaurant near Asan Terminal or in Mojong-dong with generous portions and a sauce that makes you crave rice, this one is worth a visit.
