Why I visited a Cheonan massage shop two weeks before my wedding shoot

My wedding photo shoot is about two weeks away, and I've been doing back exercises whenever I find the time. Besides the muscle soreness, the fatigue piled up so much that I even got a sore on my tongue. I wanted a proper bit of healing for the first time in a while, so I went to a massage shop in Cheonan.

Every time the therapist worked on my back, it made a creaky, clunky cracking sound, and I thought, yes, I was right to come.

Take the elevator up to the 4th floor and you'll find Puan Massage. You ring the bell at the entrance, and a staff member opens the door and guides you in kindly.

I was also impressed that there's a sleeping room, so after a late-night treatment you can rest comfortably before heading out.

Foot bath, plum tea and foot scrub before the massage

At Puan Massage, I changed into a robe and moved to the foot bath area. Just soaking my feet in warm water made the tension slowly melt away.

You can choose a drink too, and I took a short break with a glass of chilled plum tea (maesil-cha).

I also got a foot scrub through a review event. After they smoothed my feet with the scrub, they applied a moisturizing cream, and even my heels felt softer.

How does the 90-minute aroma massage go?

The treatment rooms at Puan Massage are split into bed-type and ondol-type (heated-floor) rooms, and I was treated in a bed-type room. I chose the 90-minute aroma massage. Because they work with aroma oil, the pressure feels gentle yet still loosens the muscles thoroughly, and I personally was very satisfied.

After changing into the treatment clothes and putting on only disposable underwear, you lie face down on the bed, the therapist covers you with a towel, and the treatment begins.

If you've had a Thai massage, the order will feel familiar: soles of the feet, calves, thighs, buttocks, lower back, erector muscles, back, neck, shoulders and arms, all worked through carefully in turn.

After loosening the body well, the therapist pulled the towel away, applied aroma oil and massaged gently. Partway through, she asked whether it hurt. My body is soft and squishy, but I like fairly firm pressure, so I said, "Good~~ (thumbs up)!"

Focused care for a bride-to-be's tight trapezius

I told her I'm a bride-to-be with a wedding shoot coming up and my trapezius (the muscle between neck and shoulders) was very tight. The therapist at Puan Massage spent a long time focusing on that area, and it felt really good.

With a 90-minute course, the time felt generous, and partway through I lay on my back so she could treat the front as well. The work continued down my thighs and legs, so I felt the swelling in my lower body ease a bit too.

Restroom, powder room and cleanliness

Puan Massage has a restroom inside the shop, so there was no need to go elsewhere, and it was kept neat and clean.

There's also a separate powder room you can use before and after treatment, and with a hair dryer provided, it was easy to tidy my hair before leaving.

A notice said towels and massage clothes are washed and dried every day, and I could tell they care about cleanliness overall, which put me at ease.

My results before the wedding shoot
