Korean BBQ ribs at Hong-i-jip Ilgwang, a Gijang, Busan restaurant
In short
Hong-i-jip Ilgwang (홍이집 일광점) is a charcoal Korean BBQ ribs restaurant on Haesong 1-ro in Ilgwang-eup, Gijang-gun, Busan. Visiting as a pair, the writer ordered two servings of raw ribs, three of seasoned ribs, and two bowls of bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles), grilling everything with self-bar lettuce wraps. With parking for four cars right out front, a private room, and a baby chair, it's a solid pick among the best restaurants in Busan for a family meal or work dinner.

Location, parking and hours at Hong-i-jip Ilgwang
Hong-i-jip Ilgwang, this Gijang rib restaurant with delicious ribs, is located at 7 Haesong 1-ro, Ilgwang-eup, Gijang-gun, Busan. There's parking for about 4 cars right in front, so it's easy to visit.
We parked right in front and had no trouble at all — parking around Gijang Ilgwang can honestly be a hassle, so having dedicated spots here was great. Hours are 16:00–23:00, with last order at 22:30, haha.

Inside: tables, private room, and self-bar
Here's the interior of Hong-i-jip Ilgwang. The inside is neatly arranged and feels clean for a BBQ restaurant. There's also a space set up like a private room, which looked great for reserving ahead for a group dinner.
There's also a self-bar with side dishes, mushrooms and lettuce wraps, so you can just grab what you need and eat comfortably. Baby chairs are available too, so it's easy to bring the whole family.

Ordering 2 servings of raw ribs + 3 servings of seasoned ribs
The ribs at Hong-i-jip Ilgwang are genuinely famous — raw ribs at ₩11,900 and seasoned ribs at ₩11,900 are ......... an absolute must-order. Hahaha.
The minimum first order is 3 servings, but honestly the ribs are so good you just keep ordering more, like magic. As a pair, we ordered 2 servings of raw ribs + 3 servings of seasoned ribs + 2 noodle dishes.
There's a big self-bar inside where you can grab garlic, lettuce wraps, side dishes, and mushrooms, so we grilled and ate everything deliciously.

The charcoal heat here is no joke. The meat grilled up beautifully — loved it, haha!

Our order of 2 servings of raw ribs + 3 servings of seasoned ribs was set down, and even the color of the meat stood out.

We saved the seasoned ribs for later and started with the raw ribs first, grilling them up properly before moving on to the seasoned ones.
Every time I come to Hong-i-jip, I'm reminded how genuinely good the ribs are. My husband is team raw ribs, I'm team seasoned ribs — but honestly both have their own charm and are delicious, so you really need to try both.

Ribs paired with bibim naengmyeon
Dip the raw ribs in salt for a quick bite, and give the seasoned ribs a light dip in the house special sauce — genuinely delicious. And when you order a bibim naengmyeon to go with it midway through grilling, it's just as good.
Personally, when I eat ribs or grilled meat, bibim naengmyeon as the noodle course is so satisfying. Hong-i-jip Ilgwang has both mul naengmyeon (cold noodle soup) and bibim naengmyeon, and the bibim version is really excellent, haha. My husband and I debated ordering a stew instead, but we both went with bibim naengmyeon in the end — zero regrets.

Of all the rib restaurants in Gijang I visit, Hong-i-jip Ilgwang is my favorite. We went on a weekday evening and the place was still packed — clearly for good reason. I can only imagine how busy it gets on weekends.
