Ryu-eun is a fusion Korean bar and traditional-liquor house set in a renovated home off Sinpung-ro in Haenggung-dong, Suwon. Stopping by Ryu-eun for a second round after an evening in Haenggung-dong, the writer paired hanwoo yukhoe (raw beef) and honey tomato with a Midori Shower and a Peach Crush cocktail, and enjoyed both the yukhoe wrapped in gamtae seaweed and the flower-topped drinks. Ryu-eun is a fine place for an atmospheric late-night glass.

Suwon pizza restaurant, late dinner hot chili potato: Low Five Sinpung

Low Five Sinpung is a pizza and Italian restaurant in Haenggung-dong, Suwon, opened as a second location after the original Low Five. On a late-evening visit, the order was a half-and-half pizza topped with corn on one side and hot chili potato on the other, Alfredo cream pasta and a classic Caesar salad, while the popular avocado kimchi fried rice was sold out. The dough at Low Five Sinpung stayed chewy right to the edge, so even the crust got finished.

Sookdae Station BBQ restaurant: pork neck for two at Muttuk

Muttuk Sookdae Main Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant where the staff grill for you, at the mouth of an alley a 5-minute walk from Exit 10 of Sookdae Station in Yongsan, Seoul. The order was two servings of pork neck (moksal), one of pork belly (samgyeopsal), doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) and rice, plus one extra plate of vegetables, and the thick-cut moksal was grilled to hold in the juices without turning dry. Side dishes refill freely at the self-bar and there is even deodorant spray and mouthwash by the register, so both the food and the service at Muttuk Sookdae satisfied.
