I was out and about in Yongsan and found out there was a delicious Korean BBQ place near Sookdae, so I stopped by. It's a staff-grilled BBQ spot, so it was so convenient, and everything from the meat to the side dishes was delicious~ Muttuk Sookdae Main Branch, where the meat is great! Let me introduce it to you.

Where is Muttuk Sookdae Main Branch, and what are the hours?

Mon–Sat 11:30–23:00 Sun 12:00–23:00 Last order 22:30

It's just a 5-minute walk from Exit 10 of Sookdae Station, so the accessibility is great!! It's located at the start of an alley, so you can find it without any trouble.

The tables are spaced out so it doesn't feel cramped, there's plenty of group seating, and the seats themselves are quite roomy, so it looked great for college students having a group dinner or for hanging out with friends over meat!!

Muttuk Sookdae menu and what we ordered

Muttuk menu listing showing matcha galbi ribs

Muttuk's menu~~ There's pork moksal (pork neck), samgyeopsal (pork belly), galmaegisal (skirt meat), and interestingly, matcha galbi too??? It seemed like a signature menu item here, ribs coated in matcha seasoning!!! And for beef, there was udae galbi, beef ribs, and flower ribs as well.

I love samgyeopsal and almost ordered that, but I heard the moksal here is thick-cut and their best menu item, so I got curious and ordered moksal for two and samgyeopsal for one, plus doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) and rice, which are a must with meat haha. Also there's a review event going on right now, so if you visit, do the Naver event and enjoy chadolbagi ramen along with your meat too hahaha.

Three types of dipping sauce for the meat: ssamjang, salt, and wasabi
Side dishes of pickled onion, shredded green onion salad, and myeongi namul

What side dishes and sauces come with the meat?

A whole spread of side dishes~~ For dipping the meat, they gave us not just ssamjang (soybean dipping sauce) but salt and wasabi too, which was so nice, and squid jeotgal (salted squid) came out as well — eating it with the meat, it was surprisingly a nice treat??? And pickled onions and shredded green onion salad, perfect to go with the meat!! They even gave us myeongi namul (wild garlic leaves), which honestly touched me a little ㅎ. They really put together a quality lineup of side dishes to make the meat taste even better.

A plate of thick raw pork neck (moksal)
Thick raw pork belly with side vegetables

Thick pork neck and pork belly with an extra vegetable plate

The pork neck and belly came out incredibly thick! Maybe because the cuts were so thick, once everything was grilled there turned out to be quite a lot hahaha. Along with the meat they also gave us vegetables like onion, mushroom, and potato, and grilling those up was delicious too hahaha. Vegetables can be added for a fee, so I added one more plate. When I asked to add vegetables, they asked which ones I liked?? Apparently you can choose from 3 types!! I said I wanted a mix, so they brought a mix of everything.

Staff member grilling meat along with onion, mushroom, and potato

They grill everything as it sizzles away, which is so convenient, and since a skilled staff member does the grilling, there's no unevenness — you get to eat it in great condition every time hahaha. Samgyeopsal is truly an unchanging truth haha. The ratio of lean meat to fat was just right, so it was savory and so delicious, with a perfectly greasy flavor that was top-notch.

And surprisingly, the moksal was really delicious too — it came out thick-cut and was grilled to lock in the juices, so it was moist without any dryness, and the savory juices spread out, making me think, so this is why it's the best menu item.

Doenjang jjigae and self-bar refills at Muttuk Sookdae

While happily eating the meat, the doenjang jjigae came out, and what was great was that the tofu was cut into really big pieces, with plenty of other ingredients too?? When I got a little tired of the meat, one spoonful of the stew felt refreshing and cleared everything right down, which was so nice.

If you run short on side dishes while eating, you can just refill them yourself at the self-bar!! Just don't get greedy, take only as much as you'll eat!! haha

Deodorant spray, mouthwash, and hair ties next to the register

Deodorant spray and mouthwash by the register

On the way out after a satisfying meal, paying at the register~ There was even deodorant spray and mouthwash set up right next to the register?? I suppose since it's a Korean BBQ place, clothes tend to absorb the smell, so a lot of places have deodorant spray, but having mouthwash too shows such thoughtfulness.. Besides that, there were also hair ties and cute meat-shaped sticky notes hahaha. If you need any, feel free to grab them!!!

A Korean BBQ place I found while out in Yongsan!! Both the food and the service were excellent. If you're looking for a delicious staff-grilled BBQ spot near Sookdae Station, you really should visit~~~
