Cheonan BBQ with a 2+1 black pork ogyeopsal deal: Cham Dwaejitgan

In short

Cham Dwaejitgan Cheonan Dujeong Branch is a 60-seat pork belly restaurant in the Dujeong-dong food alley of Cheonan, Chungnam. The writer ordered two servings of black pork ogyeopsal (five-layer pork belly) during the 2+1 promotion, had the staff grill everything at the table, and liked the potato slices cooked in the pork fat enough to order more. With a spotless dining room, individually wrapped utensils, a self-serve side dish bar and milk thistle with alcohol orders, Cham Dwaejitgan suits dates, family meals and group dinners alike.

Where to find a clean grill house in Cheonan's Dujeong-dong food alley

Cham Dwaejitgan Cheonan Dujeong Branch is a pork belly restaurant in Cheonan's Dujeong-dong food alley. I lived in Cheonan for about two years and still come here often! You know how famous the Dujeong-dong food alley is — there are so many BBQ spots and bars packed together that it's honestly hard to find a clean one. But Cham Dwaejitgan is so tidy that I really think everyone should try it at least once!

Exterior of Cham Dwaejitgan Cheonan Dujeong Branch

The exterior already looks super clean, right? And they're running a 2+1 promotion right now. Talk about value for money, haha.

It didn't look that huge from outside, but they've got a full 60 seats!! Perfect for company dinners or group gatherings. Getting more excited T_T

Inside Cham Dwaejitgan: 60 seats and the dining room

Inside, Cham Dwaejitgan Cheonan Dujeong Branch has high ceilings and bright lighting across its 60 seats. Walking in, there really were so many tables! The ceiling was higher than I expected so it didn't feel cramped, and the bright interior made it look even cleaner!

You can see straight into the kitchen too, which makes it feel even more trustworthy, ㅋ0ㅋ

There's a charging spot on one side of the restaurant, and something I especially loved — (my blog neighbors might already know)...

...the utensils come individually wrapped!!!!!! Somehow that makes everything feel even cleaner and more hygienic ^^

What we ordered: two servings of black pork ogyeopsal on the 2+1 deal

Okay, after reading through the whole menu, we ordered two servings of black pork ogyeopsal, which was on the 2+1 promotion.

Menu board listing the black pork ogyeopsal

Cham Dwaejitgan apparently uses a specially made grill plate that minimizes oil splatter! And inside the brazier there's charcoal plus rice husks together, so the rice-husk smoke adds even more flavor to the meat, they said (>'-'<)

Basic table setup with ssamjang, salt, and mushroom wasabi sauces

Sauces, side dishes and the self-serve bar

Once you order the meat, they set the table right away — the sauces are ssamjang (soybean paste dip), spicy sauce, salt, and wasabi, and among them there's mushroom wasabi, which is a total game changer! There are also tons of side dishes to pair with the meat — minari (water dropwort), sliced green onions, garlic scapes, bean sprouts, and more...

Side dishes and wraps are self-serve at the bar, so you can grab as much as you want without feeling self-conscious, hahaha.

Staff grill every piece of pork for you

And the best part — the grilling service! They cook everything for you!!

Kimchi being finely cut on the grill

Before the meat even arrives, they finely cut the kimchi like this. The kimchi already looks amazing just from the color ;;

The meat comes out with mushrooms, small green peppers, and potato slices. That potato slice is seriously delicious, no joke.

They really did grill everything for us — I didn't have to touch a thing. With high chairs available and the staff grilling the meat, your hands are totally free, so it seems great to bring kids along. They have high chairs too!

The low-splatter grill that drains fat into the kimchi

The meat cooked faster than I expected, and just like they explained about the grill plate earlier, it really doesn't splatter much oil..!!!!! Genuinely surprising. So where does all that oil go?

The grill plate structure that channels meat oil toward the kimchi

It runs right down the grill plate straight to the kimchi they cut earlier..!! Such a clever idea, hahaha.

Once the meat's nearly done, they put the potatoes on too. Potatoes fried in pork fat... I don't even need to say it — of course it's delicious ;;

Then we just ate the cooked meat however we liked,

The best way to eat the potato slices

Once the potatoes are cooked, you eat them together with the meat too ( ̄﹃ ̄). And apparently potatoes taste even better wrapped with mushroom wasabi and garlic scapes! (Tip from the owner.)

Potatoes served with thinly sliced garlic scapes

The potatoes were delicious on their own, and also amazing eaten the way the owner suggested! The garlic scapes were sliced thin like scallions, which made them easier to eat too.

As a self-proclaimed potato girl, there was no way I wasn't ordering more potatoes. You'll understand once you try it — the potatoes are a must-add. But add them when there's still some meat left, since you need some oil on the grill for the potatoes to cook up nicely.

A grill piled high with an extra order of potato slices

Before we knew it, we had a whole potato mountain. Haha.

Order alcohol and milk thistle comes free

After finishing off the potatoes too, we were about to leave — I hadn't had any alcohol that day, but I noticed the tables drinking alcohol had these little packets that looked the same. I couldn't help but ask the owner, and it turns out every table that orders alcohol gets one per person —

Milk thistle provided per person with alcohol orders

— milk thistle, they said ;; ;; Incredible, seriously.

Not just that — yogurt, mouthwash, candy, lens cleaner, Febreze, dental floss, and more — you can really feel how much thought they put into taking care of customers ㅠㅠ Such a considerate place...

There isn't really anywhere else to go on a date in Dujeong-dong, Cheonan besides the food alley, but this place seems perfect for an evening date as a couple, and equally great for a family meal or a group dinner. Clean, generous with service — I really, really recommend Cham Dwaejitgan Cheonan Dujeong Branch!!!!
