Dwaeji gukbap (pork bone soup) and milmyeon (wheat noodles) — the two dishes you have to eat when you come to Busan! I went to Yeongdong Milmyeon & Dwaeji Gukbap, a local favorite near Busan Station where you can enjoy both at once, and had a bowl of gukbap.

Yeongdong Milmyeon & Dwaeji Gukbap sits with a direct view of Busan Station, an absolutely prime spot. Perfect to visit before or after catching the KTX. Maybe because of the location, it's pretty busy. As my first meal after arriving in Busan, I went with dwaeji gukbap.

Not many places sell two menus at once, but here you've got both milmyeon and gukbap, making it a great pick if you're going with someone who isn't into dwaeji gukbap. It can be a love-it-or-hate-it dish, so having two options is even better.

You order at your table via tablet — such a convenient system! Thanks to that, tables turn over fast so even if there's a wait, it clears quickly! I went solo and ordered one dwaeji gukbap for 10,000 won!
Is it comfortable to eat alone here?
Apparently business is going so well they've opened a second and third branch, and the interior was really clean. You'd expect a gukbap place to have that old-school vibe, but a clean space like this has its own charm too. It feels hygienic and just right for travelers. The seating is quite spacious, able to hold a lot of people, which is probably why the turnover is fast.
True to a local favorite for dwaeji gukbap near Busan Station, the walls are packed with celebrity autographs. The place itself is large with generous seating, so eating alone near Busan Station didn't feel awkward at all. I ate solo, and the table next to me was also a solo diner..!
Honest review of the clear-broth dwaeji gukbap
The basic side dishes that come out. Onion, chili peppers, kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi), kimchi, dried radish strips, and even chives! Just the right lineup to go with gukbap.
At a gukbap restaurant, the kimchi is key, and this kimchi was delicious too.

And finally, the dwaeji gukbap arrives. According to my friend who lives in Busan, Busan-style gukbap splits into clear broth versus milky broth camps, and this place is definitely on the clear-broth side.
There's really a generous amount of meat in there. I heard Yeongdong Milmyeon Dwaeji Gukbap near Busan Station is also known for its suyuk (boiled pork), and maybe that's why the meat is so substantial and thick?
Mixed the rice all the way in and took a bite with the meat!! The taste that finally makes you feel like you've arrived in Busan.
Since I prefer a saltier flavor, I added the salted shrimp and dadaegi. The salted shrimp looked plump and hearty — quality seemed good.
The meat is so generous it feels endless no matter how much you eat. Piling meat onto rice and broth is exactly the taste of a proper hangover cure~~~
I finished the broth right down to the last drop~~~
