In short

Omil Hyehwa Daehangno is a newly opened pasta and omurice restaurant on the second floor of a building in Jongno, Seoul, 163m from Hyehwa Station Exit 4 and a short walk from Seoul National University Hospital. After a hospital visit, the writer and her mother shared spicy pollock roe oil pasta, the Omil Steak and an Oh! Basil Tomato Ade, and the sous-vide chuck flap steak was tender enough for her mother to finish easily. Omil Hyehwa Daehangno is an easy recommendation in Hyehwa Daehangno for a date or a meal with kids.

Walking up the stairs from the building entrance, you hit a bright yellow door that's the standout feature of the place. 💛 The interior overall was clean and pleasant. The pops of yellow and the cute phrases on the walls also caught my eye.

What's on the menu at Omil Hyehwa Daehangno

Omil Hyehwa is a place where you can enjoy a wide range of Western food, from pasta to omurice, gnocchi, and steak!! Their signature dishes include the rubber duck omurice, loved by all ages, and the gochujang butter pasta. There were also unique options like buckwheat soba maki. Truffle fries and corn fritters made for simple sides, plus a lineup of refreshing ades to round it all out. 😍

Oh! Basil Tomato Ade: what it tastes like

A glass of Oh! Basil Tomato Ade

I started off with the basil tomato ade to cool down. ♥️ The fragrant basil and sweet cherry tomatoes blended together better than expected, making it clean and refreshing.

How spicy is the pollock roe oil pasta at Omil?

Spicy pollock roe oil pasta topped with chives and black pepper

I ordered the spicy pollock roe oil pasta. The savory, salty roe was evenly coated through the noodles, giving it a deep umami flavor. >.<

There was also plenty of plump garlic, and the finely chopped chives and generous black pepper on top gave it fragrance with a slight kick. 😊

There was plenty of oil too, so the noodles were moist and soft — perfect for someone like me who loves pollock roe, haha.

Omil Steak: sous-vide chuck flap with red wine sauce

The second dish, the Omil Steak, arrived next. 😊 The plate was piled generously with fan-shaped skirt steak and fries, looking delicious from the first glance.

Cooked sous-vide at a low temperature, the steak was moist and tender, and not chewy at all, so my mom enjoyed it too 😋

It was tasty dipped in the whole grain mustard served alongside, but the rich red wine sauce underneath was the real hit!! Its subtle sweetness and deep flavor paired wonderfully with the tender meat, making the dish even more enjoyable. ♥️
