Hi! It's Anddu@_@!! This time I went to a bar in Euljiro 3-ga! You know how obsessed I am with mala, haha ㅠㅠ I love drinking alongside mala food, and I heard there was a new mala bar in Euljiro, so I went back again...
Baegyeonhonghwa hours and what to know before you go
Baegyeonhonghwa is open every day from 5pm to 2am, with last order at 1am. Reservations and group bookings available, wifi, separate men's and women's restrooms, corkage allowed (fee), local currency accepted, Zero Pay, simple payment, and fuel cost relief vouchers accepted.
Finding Baegyeonhonghwa at Euljiro 3-ga Exit 9
Here's the outside of Baegyeonhonghwa, the Chinese-style bar in Euljiro 3-ga known for its mala hot pot. It's located on the main street of Hipjiro, and the sign really nails that 'straight from China' feel.
The entrance kind of looks like an escape room... I came not long after it first opened too, and even then I thought it looked exactly like an escape room.
Can you get a table at 10pm on a Saturday?
Here's the inside of Baegyeonhonghwa. I visited past 10pm on a Saturday, and even then there were a lot of customers!
The place is quite large with plenty of tables, so waiting shouldn't be much of an issue!

Here's the menu and prices at Baegyeonhonghwa. Everything is Chinese-style, and I liked that there were also fusion pasta dishes and sides with a Chinese twist!

Skewer mala hot pot for two: one drink, one skewer
I ordered the skewer mala hot pot for two! I had this same mala hot pot last time and it was so good I ordered it again! There are tons of skewers, so the portion is generous too! Perfect for having a drink with each skewer!
It boils quickly once the burner's on! Since it's a hot pot, the broth stays warm the whole time, which is great for drinking alongside it!
And true to being a hot pot, they give you meat too! But... I was too drunk by this point and don't remember eating any of the meat. Pretty sure my friends finished it all...
Dipping the skewers in peanut sauce
They also serve a sauce for dipping the skewers and meat from the hot pot — it's peanut sauce! For me, peanut sauce with mala is the best combo!
It comes with chopped scallions, minced garlic, and mala oil mixed in, and stirring it all together is so good...!
Since I ordered it 'upside down,' they actually served the soju bottle upside down haha
What comes on the skewers
The skewers had basically everything you'd want in mala — tofu, vegetables, fish cake, quail eggs, dried tofu sheets, enoki mushrooms, all of it!
There's shrimp skewers too! Dipped in the sauce, they're seriously perfect with soju!
How does the mapo cream pasta taste?
I tend to get hungry for more food the more I drink... I felt like something else so I ordered the mapo cream pasta! Turns out mapo cream pasta is a slightly sweet pasta with tofu in it! First time trying something like that!

Isn't it wild how drinking just makes you want to keep eating something.. I had a Choco Pie in my bag, so I pulled it out and ate it...
I drank a ton at this place... When there's mala involved, I just keep drinking without stopping.. I'd been wanting to come back here again, and yep, it really is the kind of place you leave drunk from.
I don't remember this part too well, but they gave us these yugwa-like candies when we paid! Even the candy has that strong Chinese vibe.. the whole concept is really well done!
We'd booked a place to stay that night, and once we got there we ordered mala food again LOL. Chugged a bottle of the omija-flavored Saero too.

The staff were kind, and above all, the mala hot pot is so good! Next time I'm craving mala, this is a bar I'll go back to again>_<! If I go once more, that'll make it visit number three...!
